DURHAM, N.H. – UNH volleyball head coach Christopher Feliciano announced the signing of four student-athletes to National Letter of Intent (NLI) on Thursday afternoon.
Outside hitter Meredith Dixon (Fort Lauderale, Fla.), outside hitter Lindsey Kriendler (Houston, Texas), right side hitter Meredith Hohnbaum (Indianapolis, Ind.) and middle blocker Kara Oxenknecht (Naperville, Ill.) are the newest Wildcats for the Class of 2026.
"We are beyond excited to welcome these four outstanding student-athletes to the Wildcat family," said Coach Feliciano.
Dixon (6'1") was a two-time Offensive Player of the Year at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, helping her team to three district championships and a state championship in her freshman campaign. So far in her senior year, she has posted 169 kills, a .370 hitting percentage and 41 total blocks.
"Meredith is an explosive leaper who can play both outside and right side," stated Feliciano. "With the ability to touch 10 feet she will have the unique ability to hit over blocks really applying pressure on opposing defenses."
Kriendler (6'2") played club volleyball for Houston Skyline for head coach Johnathon Robles. She was a pre-season GHVCA (Greater Houston Volleyball Coaches Association) Team selection and was on the AVCA All-America Watch List. She has tallied 1,200 career kills, including 500 this season at Cypress Creek High School. Kriendler is also a two-time First-Team All-District honoree.
"Lindsey is an extremely talented athlete with the ability to play all three front row positions. We will use her at the left pin giving a strong physical presence where we can rely on her to slow down opposing right sides on defense and create mismatches on offense in our favor," commented Feliciano.
Hohnbaum (6'1") played for Mt. Vernon High School and club for Team Indiana for three years. In her senior season at Mt. Vernon, she has posted 159 kills, a 0.219 hitting percentage, 58 blocks, as the team finished 12th in state. This past year, her Team Indiana squad double qualified for USAV nationals. In her junior year, Mt. Vernon finished eighth in the state and 143rd nationally, earning the All-Academic Hoosier Heritage Conference Award and was named to the Ultra Ankle JVA and AVCA Phenom watch lists.
"Meredith will be a welcomed addition to our program. She has the ability to attack and block high at the net, said Feliciano. "She's another athlete that is touching close to ten feet, with what we have in the gym already and the addition of Meredith I believe that this right side group will be one of the top groups in the America East."
Oxenknecht (6'1") played for Naperville North High School and for Sports Performance Volleyball Club. She was recently named DVC All-Conference selection, one of three Naperville North players to earn the distinction. Oxenknecht has registered 172 kills, 28 blocks, 19 aces, 81 digs, .381 hitting efficiency in her senior season as team captain. In her junior season, she helped Naperville North win the conference title with a .423 hitting percentage. Overall, the team has won the conference title in her three complete seasons.
"Kara has a tremendous volleyball IQ and a desire do whatever it takes to win, mentioned Feliciano. "With the ability to impact the game both defensively and offensively it will be exciting to see her grow within our system."
The Wildcats return to action on Saturday, November 13 against Binghamton. Match time on Senior Day is 4:30 p.m. from Lundholm Gymnasium.
