Wildcats sweep Merrimack in straight sets

DURHAM, N.H. -- The University of New Hampshire volleyball team defeated Merrimack in straight sets in non-conference play on Dig Pink Night from Lundholm Gymnasium on Wednesday night. The set scores were 25-13, 25-14 and 25-12.
The 'Cats improve to 11-9 overall on the season, while Merrimack falls to 0-22 overall.
Sophomore outside hitter Hannah Serbousek (Fort Collins, Colo.) registered a match-high nine kills to go along with a .471 hitting percentage and five digs. Sophomore middle blocker Gabby Smith (Carmel, Ind.) finished the match with seven kills for UNH, while senior outside hitter Kate Bilyeu (Omaha, Neb.) recorded six kills with a .600 hitting percentage and eight digs.
Sophomore setter Jamison White (Nashville, Tenn.) drew the start for the 'Cats quarterbacking the offense with 26 assists and three service aces, while freshman libero Aiden Hackenberg (Anderson, Texas) amassed 11 digs in her first career start for the Wildcats.
UNH hit .240 as a team in the opening frame, followed by 10 kills and a .318 clip in the second and 13 kills and a .367 hitting percentage in the third and final frame.
Merrimack's Sophie Meyers tallied a team-high seven kills in the losing effort.
UNH returns to action on Thursday, October 21 at Saint Peter's. Match time from the Yanitelli Center is 7 p.m. on ESPN3.
