DURHAM, N.H. – Marc McLaughlin netted the game winner in overtime for the Eagles on Sunday afternoon as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to No. 2 Boston College, 3-2. The Wildcats are now 3-4-1 (3-4-1 Hockey East), while the Eagles improve to 6-2-0 (6-2-0 Hockey East). The Wildcats picked up three points this weekend versus BC with a 4-3 overtime win on the road on Jan. 8, and tonight's point in the OT loss.

Junior forward Angus Crookshank (North Vancouver, British Columbia) and senior forward Patrick Grasso (Ankeny, Iowa) each scored for the Wildcats. Junior forward Jackson Pierson (Zionsville, Ind.) and sophomore defenseman Kalle Eriksson (Leksand, Sweden) each posted two assists.

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will travel to Matthews Arena as they face off against Northeastern on Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 6 p.m. on NESN.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

At 6:15 of the first period, senior goalie Mike Robinson (Bedford, N.H.) made a big save on a breakaway chance by Danny Weight to keep the Eagles off the board.
Casey Carreau slid the puck behind Robinson at 12:47 to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.
UNH went on a five-minute major power play at 16:25 when BC's Mitch Andres received a five-minute major for boarding. But the Wildcats were unable to capitalize.
BC outshot UNH 10-7 in the first period. The Wildcats were 0-2 on the power play.
Crookshank poked the puck to the back of the net on the power play to tie the game 1-1 at 4:21 of the second period. Pierson and Eriksson both posted assists on the goal.
Boston College took a 2-1 lead at 14:06 of the second period as Mike Hardman found the back of the net for the Eagles.
Grasso tied the game 2-2 at 12:51 while on the power play as he ripped a one-timer from Eriksson. Pierson also posted an assist on the goal.
After 60 minutes of play, the game went into overtime with the score tied, 2-2.
MacLaughlin found the back of the net on a shorthanded goal in overtime for Boston College and secured the win for the Eagles.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Robinson made 23 saves, while Spencer Knight recorded 27.
New Hampshire outshot Boston College, 29-26.
The Wildcats went 2-8 on the power play and the Eagles went 0-3.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

Pierson now has 10 career multiple-point games. This was Eriksson's second career multi-point game.
Pierson leads the team in points with eight and Eriksson is right behind him with seven.
Grasso now has 87 career points on 44 goals and 43 assists over 123 games.
The Wildcats are 2-1-1 in overtime this season.
