DURHAM, N.H.- Senior captain Emma Woodhouse (Collingwood, Ontario) and junior Patrick Kenney (Hingham, Mass.) – both alpine skiers at UNH – earn the Service Credit Union Student-Athlete Spotlight for the week of March 9-15 for leading the New Hamspire ski team to ninth place at the 2020 NCAA Skiing Championships.
Emma narrowly missed All-America status at the 2020 NCAA Skiing Championships with her 12th-place finish in the giant slalom. The GS was held on opening day (March 11) of the NCAAs, which were abbreviated after two days of competition; the slalom, scheduled for March 13, was canceled. The NCAAs were hosted by Montana State University with the giant slalom held at Bridger Bowl.
Emma recorded a first-run time of 57.58 seconds to sit in 17th place. She recorded the 10th-fastest time of 58.22 in the second run for an aggregate time of 1 minute, 55.80 seconds. That total was just .09-of-a-second behind 10th place (which is a spot on the All-America Second Team).
Emma's 12-place in the GS was best among the three UNH women alpine skiers.
Emma earned the EISA's season slalom points leader bib and a spot on the 2020 EISA All-East Second Team. She won the slalom at the Harvard Carnival and recorded consecutive runner-up finishes in the SL at the Colby Carnival and Bates Carnival.
Patrick earned All-America First Team status at the 2020 NCAA Skiing Championships by racing to fourth place in the giant slalom at Bridger Bowl on March 11.
Patrick's effort garnered 31 points and helped lead the UNH ski team to a ninth-place finish at the abbreviated NCAAs.
Patrick recorded the fastest time of 53.68 seconds in the second run to vault from 11th place to fourth place with an aggregate time of 1 minutes, 47.84 seconds. He completed the first run in 54.16.
It marked the second consecutive year Patrick earned All-America recognition. He was on the 2019 Second Team in the GS with a 10th-place finish.
Patrick was named to the EISA All-East Second Team at the conclusion of the EISA Championships in February. He was ranked ninth in Best-2 Overall. He was No. 3 in the Best-2 giant slalom, which included a win in the season-opening Harvard Carnival.
