'Cats Win Holly Young Invitational With 3-1 Victory vs. Brown

Hannah Petke (MVP) and Katie Jablonski Named to All-Tournament Team
DURHAM, N.H. – Katie Jablonski (Elburn, Ill.) recorded a match-high 15 kills and five blocks to lead the University of New Hampshire volleyball team to Saturday afternoon's 3-1 victory against Brown University in the Holly Young Invitational at Lundholm Gym. The set scores were 22-25, 25-14, 25-15, 25-20.
UNH, Brown and Seattle tied for first place in the tournament with a 2-1 record. The Wildcats were declared champions by virtue of the best set winning percentage at .636 (7-11). Seattle was next at .571 (8-14), followed by Brown at .500 (7-7). Holy Cross went 0-3 but lost both of Saturday's matches in five sets.
Jablonski was joined on the Holly Young Invitational All-Tournament Team by MVP Hannah Petke (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.). Petke recorded 10 kills on a .348 hitting percentage and also contributed five blocks.
UP NEXT: New Hampshire will travel to Northeastern University to take on the Huskies on Tuesday, September 10 at 7 p.m. at the Cabot Center.

TOP 'CATS
- Emily Tanski (Plymouth, Mich.) recorded a match-high 27 digs.
- Emma Patlovich (Lake Forest, Ill.) and Wren Macaulay (Lake Orion, Mich.) split the setting duties and orchestrated UNH's offense to a .281 hitting percentage. Macaulay tallied a match-high 23 assists and Patlovich had 22.
- Abby Sullivan (Methuen, Mass.) led all players with seven blocks and also had seven kills.
- Hannah Crist (Cicero, Ind.) tallied eight kills on a .800 hitting percentage; she also had six blocks.
- Erin Hedrick (Montvale, N.J.) finished with eight kills and two blocks.
SET 1
- Brown started off the match strong to take a 7-1 lead.
- The Bears continued to add to their lead, growing the margin to 20-10.
- UNH began to cut away at the deficit by scoring six straight points to make the score 20-16.
- The 'Cats fought back to close within 23-22, but ultimately lost the first set 25-22.
- Jablonski had four kills and two blocks in the set.
SET 2
- The second set began with both teams trading points to advance the score to 10-10 with no team gaining an advantage greater than two.
- Behind the service of Kennedi Smith (The Woodlands, Texas), UNH pulled away by scoring 10 straight points to make the score 22-11.
- The Wildcats went on to win the set 25-14.
- Tanski had seven digs in the set to lead the 'Cats.
- The teams continued to go back-and-forth at the beginning of the third set, keeping things tied up 6-6.
- UNH went on to score 10 straight points – once again on Smith's serve – to take a 16-6 lead.
- The Wildcats never let up and won the set 25-15.
- There were six lead changes in the third set before UNH started their run led by Jablonski's four kills.
- The fourth set started off close, with the score being tied at 5-5.
- Following the close start, the 'Cats scored six straight points – this time on Patlovich's serve – to build an 11-5 advantage.
- The Bears kept it close, cutting the lead to just three at 19-16, but UNH kept the visitors at arm's length the rest of the way to close out the set and match, 25-20.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- Tanski is No. 7 on the program's all-time digs leaderboard with 1,196. Ahead of her on the list is Jillian Ross at 1,207.
- Smith, who became the 17th UNH player to record 1,000 career point on Thursday, increased her total to 1,025.5 with six more Saturday vs. Brown.
- New Hampshire improved to 3-1 at home.
- The Wildcats have won four straight matches against Brown and seven of the last eight meetings.
