Smith Records 1,000th Career Point in 3-1 Loss to Seattle

DURHAM, N.H. – Emily Tanski (Plymouth, Mich.) tallied 21 digs and Abby Sullivan (Methuen, Mass.) recorded seven blocks to anchor the defensive effort, but the University of New Hampshire volleyball team was defeated 3-1 by Seattle University at Lundholm Gym on Thursday night.
The set scores were 20-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-20 in what was the first match of the 13th Holly Young Invitational. UNH moved to 3-2 and Seattle improved to 3-1.
Kennedi Smith (The Woodlands, Texas) became the 17th player in program history to record 1,000 career points during her 10-point effort.

TOP 'CATS
- Smith finished with nine kills, 14 digs, two blocks and two assists.
- Sullivan had eight kills on a .217 hitting percentage in addition to her match-high seven blocks.
- Katie Jablonski (Elburn, Ill.) recorded a team-high 10 kills on a .467 hitting percentage. She also had three blocks and five digs.
- Emma Patlovich (Lake Forest, Ill.) had a team-high 20 assists.
SET 1
- New Hampshire and Seattle fought back and forth on the score in the first set, until Seattle pulled away to make the score 6-3.
- UNH pulled into a 6-6 tie, and the battle for the lead resumed with the teams remaining within one point of each other.
- Seattle pulled away once again on a five-point streak to make the score 18-13.
- The Wildcats retaliated after another back and forth score with a five-point run.
- Patlovich led the 'Cats with six assists in the first set, and Tanski led the team with seven digs.
SET 2
- New Hampshire started the second set on a 4-0 run.
- The Redhawks overcame the deficit to make the score 5-4 after 4 consecutive points to take the lead, and did not relinquish it for the rest of the set.
- Tanski led the 'Cats again with five digs in the second set.
SET 3
- Seattle took the lead early in the third set, then built up an eight-point advantage to secure the lead at 11-3 and never looked back.
- Jablonski had a team-high four kills in the third set.
SET 4
- The Redhawks began the fourth set with a four-point run to take the lead.
- The Wildcats cut the deficit to just 13-12, but the Redhawks maintained the lead until the end of the set for the win.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- Tanski is No. 7 on the program's all-time digs leaderboard with 1,151. Ahead of her on the list is Jillian Ross at 1,207.
