DURHAM, N.H. – Senior field hockey captain Kayla Sliz (Ajax, Ontario) and junior football kicker Jason Hughes (Atkinson, N.H.) have earned this week's Service Credit Union Student-Athlete Spotlight honors for competition from Sept. 16-22.
Kayla scored the game-tying and game-winning goals to lift UNH to a 4-3 double-overtime win at Dartmouth College. Kayla also had an assist to finish with career highs in both goals (two) and points (five). Her other stats included seven shots (five on goal).
UNH trailed 3-2 when Kayla scored on a direct shot off a penalty corner with 2:46 remaining in the fourth quarter to tie the score. She nearly ended the game in regulation, as her shot from the top-left side rolled through traffic and ricocheted off the far post with 30 seconds on the clock. Following a scoreless first overtime, Kayla collected the penalty corner insert at the top of the circle and blasted a rising shot into the cage to end the game at 72:00.

Jason icked the game-winning 29-yard field goal to lift the UNH football team to Saturday's 27-24 victory against Rhode Island at Wildcat Stadium. With three seconds remaining, URI called a timeout but the delay did not impact Jason, who calmly kicked the ball between the uprights as time expired.
It was the first final seconds field goal for a Wildcat win since Connor McCormick beat Richmond, 20-19, with a 27-yarder with 16 seconds left on Oct. 12, 2002.
Jason was perfect on the day as he made both field goal attempts and all three PAT attempts. His 34-yard field goal gave the Wildcats a 24-10 lead early in the fourth quarter.
