Smith's Double-Double Lifts 'Cats Past Loyola, 3-2

Patlovich and Macaulay Also Record Double-Doubles vs. the Greyhounds
TOWSON, Md. – Kennedi Smith (The Woodlands, Texas) recorded a double-double with 15 kills and 15 digs to lift the University of New Hampshire volleyball team to a 3-2 victory against Loyola University (Md.) in Saturday's first match of the Tiger Invitational at Towson University's SECU Arena.
The set scores were 25-18, 24-26, 26-24, 23-25, 15-13. UNH won its third consecutive match to improve to 9-3 overall. Loyola is 5-6.
Both UNH setters also recorded a double-double. Emma Patlovich (Lake Forest, Ill.) finished with 32 assists and 12 digs – both season highs – and Wren Macaulay (Lake Orion, Mich.) tallied 16 assists with 12 digs.
UP NEXT: UNH concludes the non-conference portion of its schedule Sept. 22 in Day 3 of the Tiger Invitational against both NJIT (10 a.m.) and Towson University (1 p.m.).
NEXT HOME MATCH: New Hampshire's next home match is Oct. 11 against Binghamton University. It is earmarked as a Dig Pink fundraiser, and pink pom poms will be given away to fans.

•Hannah Petke (Rancho Santa Margarita) tallied 15.5 points with 13 kills and five blocks.
•Abby Sullivan (Methuen, Mass.) contributed 13.5 points with 11 kills on a .345 hitting percentage; she also had five blocks.
•Katie Jablonski (Elburn, Ill.) had 10 kills (.381 hitting percentage) and three blocks.
•Emily Tanski (Plymouth, Mich.) finished with a season-high 30 digs and seven assists.
•Logan Welti (Middleton, Wis.) tallied double-digit digs for the third consecutive match with 14.

•The 'Cats briefly held the lead, 14-13, but Loyola won the next three points to go back in front.
•UNH tied the score at 23 and fended off one set point on a kill by Smith, but the designated visitors won the next two points to level the match.

•With the score tied at 14, Loyola inched ahead with a 3-0 spurt .
•The teams exchanged points until the 'Cats clawed within one point, 21-20.
•Trailing 24-22, UNH extended the set on a kill by Smith and combined block by Hannah Crist (Cicero, Ind.))and Jablonski.
•Out of the Loyola timeout, Smith served an ace and then another strong served forced the Greyhounds into an error that gave New Hampshire the point, set and 2-1 lead in the match.

•UNH built an early four-point advantage, 9-5, but the Greyhounds rallied to take a 14-12 lead.
•Back-to-back kills by Erin Hedrick (Montvale, N.J.) and Petke helped put the Wildcats back in front, 19-17.
•Loyola called time out and responded with five consecutive points to surge ahead, 22-19.
•Both teams tallied a point, the successive kills by Sullivan, Patlovich and Petke leveled the score at 23.
•The Greyhounds called a timeout and won the next two points to extend the match into a fifth set.

•With the score tied 4-4, a Loyola service error preceded Smith's service ace as New Hampshire went on a 5-0 run to build a 9-4 lead.
•The Wildcats advanced the score to match point, 14-8.
•Loyola won five consecutive points to prolong the set, but an emphatic kill by Smith ended the set and match in favor of UNH.
