Gogolin Leads 'Cats in Setback at Stony Brook

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Freshman forward Ivy Gogolin (Hopkinton, Mass.) scored 14 points to lead the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team in a 67-37 setback at Stony Brook on Saturday afternoon.
UNH is 6-20 overall and 3-10 in America East.
Stony Brook is 19-6 overall and 8-4 in the league.
UNH plays at Hartford on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The Wildcats played their 11th game without their leading scorer, junior forward Ashley Storey (Cumberland, Maine). Storey is out with a foot injury and is expected to miss at least six weeks.
Senior guard Shania Johnson scored 17 points to lead Stony Brook and senior guard Jerell Matthews added 14.
NEXT UP
The Wildcats plat at Hartford on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
They then close out the regular season with a pair of home games.
They face UAlbany on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at noon in their Girls & Women in Sports Day/Play4Kay Game.
They finish the regular season with their Senior Day game against UMBC on Saturday, March 2 at noon.

HIGHLIGHTS
Gogolin's 14 points put her in double figures for the second consecutive game. It's her first time scoring at least 10 points in back-to-back games.
She had her second career double-double with 15 points and a career-best 12 rebounds in UNH's most recent game against Vermont on Wednesday night.
Goglin also had four rebounds on Saturday and made all four of the free throws she attempted.
Sophomore guard Amanda Torres (Hudson, N.H.) and senior guard Caroline Soucy (Beverly, Mass.) each had six points against Stony Brook. Freshman guard Kali Grimm (Norwood Young America, Minn.) led the Wildcats in rebounds with six points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Seawolves led 20-11 after one period and pushed the advantage to 36-18 at the half.
Brekke had five points in the first half and Gogolin four for UNH. Grimm led UNH in the half with three rebounds.
Stony Brook made half of its field goals in the opening half (14-for-28) and UNH was at 26.9 percent (7-for-26).
Gogolin had six points and Grimm a three-pointer to pace a 9-2 UNH run to open the second half and cut the Stony Brook lead to 38-27. But the Seawolves answered with nine straight points of their own and pulled away.
