‘Cats Downed by #25 Tigers, Open Conference Play This Thursday

New Hampshire starts 2020 with America East matchup at UMass Lowell
PRINCETON, N.J. – The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team wrapped up its non-conference segment of the 2019-2020 schedule, with a loss to #25 Princeton College on Sunday afternoon, 77-37.
The Wildcats finish the non-conference schedule with a 3-9 record, while Princeton improves to 12-1 on the season.

HIGHLIGHTS:
- Junior guard Amanda Torres (Hudson, N.H.) led the way for the Wildcats shooting 50% from the floor (4-8 FG) adding in four free throws for a team-high 12 points, along with six rebounds and a steal. The six rebounds ties her career high set last season at Stony Brook.
- Senior forward Ashley Storey (Cumberland, Maine) followed that up with her seventh straight double-digit scoring performance, tallying 11 points, six boards, and added a steal and assist to her scoreline. Storey also had two blocks in the contest, her second straight game blocking a pair of shots.
- Senior guard Caroline Soucy (Beverly, Mass.) led the team in rebounds (7) and steals (2) on the afternoon. She also tallied four points and one assist, on no turnovers.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Tigers kicked the game off with an early 8-0 run; Princeton got the score up to 18-0 after a timeout, before UNH tallied its first point.
- New Hampshire went on a little 7-2 run in the second quarter and cut into the Princeton lead, 28-10. After trading baskets in the latter half of the second quarter, the score would stand at 33-15 Princeton at halftime.
- New Hampshire looked to ride its momentum it built going towards halftime, but the Tigers retook control in the third, putting up 31 points.
- The 'Cats outscored Princeton 14-13 in the final frame but Princeton's lead was too much to overcome, leading 64-23 after three quarters.

- This was Torres' second game of the season where she led in scoring; Storey holds the lead in that category with seven games.
- Freshman Héléna Delaruelle (Enghien-les-Bains, France) led the team in assists on the afternoon (2), which a team-high seventh game this season where she's led the team in assists.
- Ashley Storey's season-high in blocks this season is three, against NDSU.
- This was UNH's second game of the season playing an opponent ranked in either the AP Top 25 poll or the USA Today Coaches' Poll. The Wildcats haven't had to face two ranked opponents in a single season since the 2009-2010 campaign.
