Sixteen games to be broadcast on NESN or NESNplus
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's and women's hockey teams will appear on either NESN or NESNplus a combined 16 times under the Hockey East Association's multi-year partnership with the New England Sports Network. The men's team will have 13 games on NESN/NESNplus, while the women's team will be featured three times.
Ten men's home games, starting with the home-opener versus No. 10 Boston College on Friday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m., will be featured as part of the package and will be produced by UNH Wildcat Productions, the athletic department's in-house broadcast team.
The Wildcats will open the home season at the Whitt in style by taking on the No. 6-nationally ranked Eagles as the first of a six-set trading card series will be given away at the game and the UNH Marching Band will perform on the ice. The Wildcats will then host Dartmouth in a Granite State showdown on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m.
"It is a testament to the fine work done by our Wildcat Productions team that Hockey East has awarded our program with 10 home games on NESN and NESNplus," said men's hockey coach Mike Souza. "These televised games help in our recruiting efforts and provide our program great visibility throughout the region."
The men's team just recently started the season strong with a 1-0-1 record at Miami. The Wildcats have already scored 10 goals this season as they are tied for sixth nationally in goals per game. Junior defenseman Max Gildon (Plano, Texas) wasted no time earning weekly accolades as he was named the Hockey East Co-Defensive Player of the Week for his four-point opening weekend performance.
The women's team has had an impressive start to the Hockey East season defeating UConn, 2-0, and No. 10 Boston University, 4-2. This is the Wildcats best start to a Hockey East season in nine years when they were also 2-0-0 in 2010-2011. Redshirt sophomore goaltender Ava Boutilier (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) has been a force in net posting two shutouts which are tied for the second most in the country through five games. She has also received Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week honors twice.
Individual game tickets with affordable options can now be purchased for the men's and women's hockey seasons. The Starting Six Flex Plan is also a great deal for the men's hockey season which allows fans the flexibility to manage their tickets to suit their own schedules with six undated loge box ticket vouchers which can be used all at one game or spread out over multiple games. Fans save 15% off the regular price of an individual game ticket and receive a $10 concessions voucher.
