Soucy, Grimm Pace 'Cats in Loss to Stony Brook

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior guard Caroline Soucy (Beverly, Mass.) scored 17 points and freshman guard Kali Grimm (Norwood Young America, Minn.) added 13 points to pace the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team in an 82-63 loss to Stony Brook on Alumni Day on Saturday afternoon at Lundholm Gymnasium.
The Wildcats play their next game Wednesday at Vermont at 7 p.m.
UNH fell to 4-13 overall and 1-3 in America East.
Stony Brook is 14-3 and 3-1.
Freshman guard Kari Brekke (Appleton, Wisc.) contributed 12 points for UNH.
The Wildcats played their second straight game without their leading scorer, junior forward Ashley Storey (Cumberland, Maine). Storey is out with a foot injury and is expected to miss at least six weeks.
Oksana Gouchie-Provencher, a 6-foot-4 sophomore, led Stony Brook with 29 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore India Pagan had 19 points and seven rebounds and senior guard Shania Johnson had 16 points, 12 assists and five rebounds.

UNH then plays Hartford at home on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m.

Soucy and Grimm each made four three-pointers, matching the team high for the season.
Grimm was four-for-eight in three-pointers and Soucy made four of her nine attempts.
Grimm also had four treys among her team-high 15 points in UNH's 56-53 win at UMass Lowell on Wednesday night.
The Wildcats matched their season high with 10 three-pointers as a team. They attempted 23 three-point baskets.
Senior forward Alli Gribbin (Keller, Texas) made her one three-pointer and Brekke also had a trey.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Six Wildcats scored in the first quarter and they trailed 19-17 when it ended.
Stony Brook went on a 15-2 run to open things up in the second period. The Seawolves owned a 40-29 lead at the half.
Gribbin led UNH with seven points in the first half and Torres had six. Gogolin had five points and three rebounds.
Kali Grimm hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to cut Stony Brook's lead to 62-46 at the end of the third.
Grimm nailed another three-pointer early in the third and Soucy made three three-pointers in the fourth quarter.
