Patlovich Records Double-Double in 3-1 Loss to South Dakota

Olhava Named to Panther Invitational All-Tournament Team
MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Emma Patlovich (Lake Forest, Ill.) recorded her third double-double of the season with 32 assists and 16 digs, but the University of New Hampshire volleyball team was upended 3-1 by the University of South Dakota in the teams' final match of the Panther Invitational at Klotsche Center on Saturday afternoon.
The set scores were 21-25, 25-14, 25-19, 25-16. UNH finished third in the tournament standings with a 1-2 record. South Dakota was second at 2-1.
Gabri Olhava (Mount Prospect, Ill.) was named to the Panther Invitational All-Tournament Team. In the three matches, she led the team in kills (37), kills per set (3.08) and hitting percentage (.326). Olhava also tied for second in blocks with six.
Patlovich's 16 digs marked a career high. She finished the tourney with 111 assists (9.25 per set) and 39 digs (3.25/set). Patlovich also recorded five kills and no errors on 11 attacks for a .455 hitting percentage.
USD was led by Hayley Dotseth (17 kills), Elizabeth Loschen (11 kills) and Madison Jurgens (41 assists, 18 digs).
New Hampshire returns to action next weekend at the Dog Pound Challenge. The Wildcats play host UConn (12 p.m.) and Syracuse (5 p.m.) on Aug. 31, then Iona College on Sept. 1 (12 p.m.).
UNH's home opener vs. Northeastern on Sept. 11 (7 p.m.) will be broadcast on ESPN+.

THE DIFFERENCE
- New Hampshire came out strong to win the first set, but never held a lead the rest of the match.
SET 1
- UNH hedged out to a 5-2 lead behind two kills from Petke (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) and a service ace by Logan Welti (Middleton, Wis.).
- After USD inched within 5-4, the Wildcats went on a 6-1 run – ignited by three consecutive kills by Smith (The Woodlands, Texas) – to build an 11-5 advantage.
- The 'Cats led by as many as seven points (19-12 and 20-13) before South Dakota rallied within 23-19. UNH won two of the next four points to close out the set.
- Smith was dominant in Set 1 with five kills, a .571 hitting percentage and four digs. Olhava's numbers included two kills, a .500 hitting percentage and two digs.
SET 2
- South Dakota surged out to a 4-1 lead. UNH won three consecutive points to level the score, but the Coyotes inched back in front, 6-4, and New Hampshire never pulled even the rest of the set.
- After trailing by as many as seven points (17-10), the Wildcats trimmed the deficit to 18-14. USD closed the set on a 7-0 spurt, however, to win the set.
SET 3
- The designated visitors carried that momentum into the next set by rolling out to a 6-0 lead.
- USD kept the 'Cats at by and led 17-12 when New Hampshire went on a 6-1 run to tie the score at 18. The Coyotes responded by winning the next two points as part of a 7-1 spurt to end the set.
SET 4
- South Dakota once again took the early lead, 3-0. UNH tied the score at 4-4 and 5-5 but the Coyotes won the next three points and six of the next seven to build an 11-6 advantage.
- The lead expanded as much as 12 points (20-8) before the 'Cats closed the gap to seven points (21-14 and 23-16).
WILDCAT NOTEBOOK
- This was the first meeting between the New Hampshire and South Dakota volleyball programs.
- The team that won the first set lost all three UNH matches at the Panther Invitational.
