HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Quarter
•A slow start from the floor (2-for-12, 16.7 percent) for the Wildcats allowed CCSU to take a 15-8 lead at the end of one. McCamus scored all six points for the Blue Devils during a 6-0 run to build the lead from 9-7 to eight points (15-7, 26 seconds left in first) before a free throw from Kari Brekke (Appleton, Wis., three points) snapped a 3:40 scoreless stretch for the Wildcats with 1.8 seconds left in the quarter. Torres notched three of UNH's four steals, which led to seven points off turnovers in the period.
2nd Quarter
•The Wildcats outscored the Blue Devils, 13-10, in the second quarter to head into the locker room trailing, 25-21. UNH cut the CCSU lead to two points at 21-19 (4:59 left) and 23-21 (1:46 left) before a driving layup from Sydney Hines (two points) supplied the home team with the four-point halftime lead.
•Ahearn scored seven of UNH's 13 points in the quarter on a 3-point basket, a put-back of her own missed corner 3-pointer and a pick-and-roll layup off a nice assist from Storey, who paced the 'Cats with eight points on 3-for-7 shooting in the half. Patterson led CCSU with nine points at the intermission.
3rd Quarter
•Despite climbing back within two points on three occasions, including 33-31 with 2:49 left in the third courtesy of Storey's left-side runner, the Wildcats were on the wrong end of a 6-0 run to end the quarter that allowed CCSU to match its then-largest lead, 39-31, after three.
4th Quarter
•The Blue Devils edged the Wildcats, 17-16, and built the final margin to a game-high nine points with a Patterson FT with two seconds remaining.
GAME NOTES
•CCSU shot 48.8 percent (20-for-41) in the game, including 5-for-8 (62.5 percent) in the first quarter and 6-for-10 (60 percent) in the fourth.
•UNH shot 26.7 percent (12-for-45) from the field, including 3-for-20 (15 percent) from the 3-point arc.
•The Wildcats went 20-for-25 (80 percent) at the free throw line, including 9-for-10 in the fourth quarter.
•Caroline Soucy (Beverly, Mass.), who was forced to play with a protective facemask after sustaining a broken nose in practice earlier in the week, still managed four points on 2-for-6 shooting in 17 minutes before fouling out with 7:56 left in game. Moments earlier, her jumper trimmed CCSU's lead to 41-37, which was the closest New Hampshire would get the rest of the way.
•CCSU led wire-to-wire, but never built the lead higher than eight points until the final free throw with two seconds remaining.
•The Wildcats outscored the Blue Devils in second-chance points (14-4).
•CCSU got the better of UNH in bench points (17-3), fast-break points (26-10) and points in the paint (26-14).
