Storey Paces 'Cats in Loss at South Florida

TAMPA, Fla. - Junior forward Ashley Storey (Cumberland, Maine) scored 16 points to lead the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team in a 79-36 loss at the University of South Florida on Friday night.
UNH is now 1-7 for the season. The Wildcats play a home game against the University of New England at Lundholm Gymnasium on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.
South Florida is 6-2.
Freshman guard Kari Brekke (Appleton, Wisc.) added eight points for the Wildcats and sophomore forward Maggie Ahearn (Marshfield, Mass.) led the team with eight rebounds and had four points and a career-high four assists.

The Wildcats open December with a two-game homestand. They face the University of New England out of Biddeford, Maine on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. in Lundholm Gymnasium.
Holy Cross comes to town for a game on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 1 p.m.
Author and ESPN personality Jackie MacMullan, a captain of the UNH women's team in the 1981-82 season, will be signing copies of her new book "Basketball: A Love Story" before the Holy Cross game. MacMullan will be signing in the lobby of Lundholm from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is donating $5 from the purchase of each book to the UNH women's basketball program.
UNH plays at Central Connecticut State on Sunday, Dec. 16.
The Wildcats play Dartmouth at home on Friday, Dec. 21 at 11 a.m. and close out the calendar year with a game against Princeton on Saturday, Dec. 29 at 1 p.m.

Storey led the Wildcats in scoring for the seventh straight game. She made seven of her 16 field goal attempts, including her second three-pointer of the season. She was 1-for-2 in three-pointers in the game.
Storey came into the game ranked second in America East in scoring with an average of 16.9 points per game.
Brekke made two of the six three-pointers she attempted in the game. UNH has made 15 treys this season and Brekke has 15 of them.
HOW IT HAPPENED
An Ahearn three-pointer and Storey jumper put UNH up 5-4 with 5:20 left in the first quarter.
The Bulls came back to make it 21-7 by the end of the period.
They ran the lead out to 38-11 at the half.
Storey had five of UNH's 11 points in the third quarter. At the end of three, South Florida led, 60-22.
The Wildcats scored 14 points in the fourth for their best period of the night.
