Storey, Brekke Lead 'Cats in Loss at BU

BOSTON – Junior forward Ashley Storey (Cumberland, Maine) scored 12 points and freshman guard Kari Brekke (Appleton, Wisc.) had 10 but the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team lost at Boston University, 60-39, on Wednesday night in Case Gym.
UNH is now 1-6 for the season and plays at the University of South Florida on Friday night.
BU improved to 3-2.
Storey and Brekke also led the Wildcats in rebounding. Storey had six rebounds and Brekke had five.

The Wildcats play the University of South Florida in Tampa on Friday at 6 p.m.
The Wildcats open December with a two-game homestand. They face the University of New England on Thursday, Dec. 6 in Lundholm Gymnasium.
Holy Cross comes to town for a game on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 1 p.m.

HIGHLIGHTS
Led by Storey and Brekke, the Wildcats got off to a fast start. Storey made a layup, Amanda Torres (Hudson, N.H.) hit a bucket from the top of the key and Storey added a turnaround jumper from 12 feet and it was 6-0 three minutes into the game.
Brekke had the final five UNH points of the first period with a three-pointer and a running lefthander.
This is the sixth straight game Storey has led the Wildcats in scoring. Brekke led them in scoring in the first game of the season.
Storey averaged 17.7 points a game coming into the contest to lead America East in scoring.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Brekke's first three-pointer put the 'Cats up 9-4 just past the midway point of the first period. They led 11-9 at the end of the period.
BU moved in front in the second period. The Terriers led 31-24 at the half.
Brekke had 10 points at the half.
The Terriers extended the lead to 49-33 after three periods.
Storey had six of the nine Wildcat points in the third period.
BU pulled away in the fourth quarter.
