Leissner, Camara Reach Individual Milestones in 68-64 Loss at George Washington

Leissner scores 1,600th Career Point, Camara Pulls Down 800th Career Rebound
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tanner Leissner (Converse, Texas) eclipsed 1,600 career points and Iba Camara (Dakar, Senegal) surpassed 800 career rebounds, but the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team was defeated 68-64 by The George Washington University in Wednesday night's non-conference game at the Charles E. Smith Center.
Leissner moved to No. 2 on UNH's career points leaderboard with his team-high 14-point performance, which increased his total to 1,601 points. Camara became the fourth Wildcat to reach the 800-rebound milestone as his 12 rebounds increased his total to 809.
Darryl Stewart (Atlanta, Ga.) came off the bench to record 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the floor, including 2-2 on 3-pointers, and five assists.
GW was led by Patrick Steeves (23 points, seven rebounds, five assists) and Yuta Watanabe (18 pts, 11 rebs).
UNH is now 3-9 overall while GW improved to 6-6.

GAME RECAP
- Trailing 9-5, UNH went on a 16-0 run to build a 21-9 lead. Jordan Reed (Lucas, Texas) ignited the spurt with a 3-pointer from the top of the key at 14:20. Darryl Stewart (Atlanta, Ga.) and Luke Rosinski (Derry, NH.) followed with jumpers, then Reed buried another 3-pointer to give the Wildcats a 15-9 edge at 11:45.
- Back-to-back 3-pointers by Jacoby Armstrong (Dallas, Texas) and Stewart pushed the margin to 12 points at 10:30.
- Leissner connected on a left baseline jumper at 6:56 to give UNH a 25-16 lead and elevate him to second on the program's all-time scoring list.
- GW trailed 29-23 at the last media timeout of the half (at 3:50), but rallied to tie the score at 29.
- Keon Burns (Beaverton, Ore.) hit a jumper as the shot clock expired with 50 seconds on the clock, and then Leissner connected from the right elbow with four seconds remaining to send the 'Cats into the locker room with a 33-29 lead.
- The Colonials trailed 39-33 but scored 10 consecutive points to take a 43-39 lead at 11:58.
- Stewart answered with a 3-pointer at 11:35 to trim the deficit to one point.
- GW inched ahead, 47-42, and New Hampshire pulled within two points twice before the home team hit back-to-back baskets to take a 57-51 lead.
- Josh Hopkins (Greensboro, N.C.) drained a 3-pointer from the right baseline to lift the 'Cats within 57-56 at 4:16.
- Stewart's long-range two-pointer from the top of the key once again pulled New Hampshire within one point, 59-58, at 3:25.
- The Wildcats fell behind 66-58 before Hopkins hit a 3 with 17.5 seconds to play to make it a five-point margin.
- UNH immediately called time out, but fell behind by seven before Burns hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- UNH had a four-point halftime lead on the strength of 14-for-25 shooting from the floor (56%). The Wildcats shot 47.8% in the second half, including 5-6 on 3-pointers, and 52.1% for the game.
- The Colonials went 5-for-11 from the foul line in the first half; the 'Cats did not attempt a free throw before halftime. In the second half, UNH made 4 of 7 free throws in comparison to GW's 9-12.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- Leissner climbed to No. 2 on UNH's career points leaderboard with 1,601 points. He surpassed Robin Dixon (1979-83), who finished with 1,590 career points.
- Camara is No. 4 on the program's career rebounds leaderboard with 809.
- This was UNH's fourth loss of the season by less than five points, and six of the nine losses have been by less than 10 points.
