Wildcats Blanked at No. 14 Notre Dame, 3-0

NOTRE DAME, Ind.-- Jake Evans and Andrew Oglevie each tallied two points and Cal Petersen turned aside 31 shots for his 10th career shutout as the 14th-ranked University of Notre Dame skated to a 3-0 victory over the University of New Hampshire in Saturday night's Hockey East Association clash at the Compton Family Ice Arena.
Danny Tirone made 40 saves in the losing effort one night after making a season-high 47 saves. The setback ended New Hampshire's four-game unbeaten streak and allowed Notre Dame (16 points) to leapfrog UNH (15 points) in the Hockey East standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
•Notre Dame moved in front, 1-0, at 14:16 of the first period. Danny Tirone made a stop on a forehand bid from Anders Bjork in the left circle, but Dylan Malmquist pounced on the rebound and wristed it through Tirone's five-hole. Bjork and Jordan Gross assisted.
•The Fighting Irish tacked on two more goals in the third period. Andrew Peeke zipped a wrist shot from the left circle inside the far post at 3:54. Jake Evans tallied the primary assist, with Andrew Oglevie adding the secondary assist.
•Evans notched his eighth goal when he picked up a rebound off his own initial shot and went top shelf at 7:52 of the third. Cam Morrison and Oglevie assisted.
•Cal Petersen made 31 saves to earn his fifth shutout of the season and 10th of his career in his 75th straight start.
•The Wildcats were shut out for the first time since Jan. 8, 2015 (UMass Lowell).
