HOW IT HAPPENED
• PC led first-period faceoffs and that proved instrumental in the closing seconds of the opening stanza. With four seconds on the clock, Scott Conway drew the puck back to the right point and Jake Walman quickly swung a pass across the high slot. Josh Monk ripped a one-timer into the upper-right corner with 0.9 seconds left to send the Friars into the first intermission with a 1-0 lead.
• It remained a one-goal game until the last three minutes of the game, when Ryan Tait netted goals at 17:18 and 19:39.
• Junior netminder Danny Tirone (Trumbull, Conn.) made 27 saves for UNH in the game, including 11 in the first period and in the second period.
