STUDENT-ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT
Laura Rose Donegan, women's outdoor track & field
Donegan, a senior from Melbourne, Australia, set a meet record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the America East Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, May 7.
Donegan shattered the previous record of 10:09.18 as she clocked in at 9:49.16. Her time currently has her as fourth fastest in the event nationally.
It is Donegan's second America East title of her senior year. At the America East Indoor Track & Field Championships, she took the top spot in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:28.13.
The Australia native holds the fastest 1,500-meter time for the Wildats this season. She set the benchmark of 4:25.18 at the Colonial Relays on April 1.

Andrew McFarland, men's outdoor track & field
McFarland, a senior from Nazareth, Pa., claimed his first-ever America East championship as he placed first in the 400-meter hurdles with an NEICAAA qualifying time of 54.53 seconds. He also took first in the preliminaries with a time of 53.92 seconds.
His previous career-high mark at the AE Championships was in the same event in 2015. His time then was 54.72 seconds.
McFarland had taken first place in the 400 hurdles in a tri-meet against the University of Maine and Bates College on April 2.

UNH LAUNCHES 2016 FOOTBALL STADIUM TICKET CAMPAIGN
     The UNH department of athletics has launched of a marketing campaign aimed at establishing a priority system for seat selection at the under-construction Wildcat Stadium for the 2016 season.
     The campaign will enable fans to reserve season tickets in the state-of-the-art stadium. For a $25 deposit per seat, fans will receive a seat selection priority number in the order in which their reservation is made. The deposit is completely refundable and nonbinding.
     Current season ticket holders for 2015 football do not need to make a seat deposit at this time; they will be given seat selection priority over the general public. The seat selection process for season ticket holders will be announced at a later date.
     Details of season ticket packages, including amenities and privileges, will be announced this winter, at which time fans can select their ticket package preference. A "Select A Seat" event in which fans pick their actual seat location in the new stadium will be announced at a later time.

MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD

The UNH men's outdoor track & field team placed fifth overall at the America East Outdoor Track & Field Championships on the campus of the University of Vermont.
Junior Drew Piazza (Danvers, Mass.) claimed to titles at the event with one in the 800-meter run (1:50.76) and the other in the 4x800-meter relay. He, along with Jacob Kittredge (Amherst, N.H.), William Ulrich (Mineola, N.Y.) and Doug Rose (Dover, N.H.) collectively ran to a time of 7:42.75.
Junior Andrew McFarland (Nazareth, Pa.) took gold in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.53 seconds.
Daniel Johnson (Lancaster, N.H.) took second place overall in the decathlon as he registered 6,465 points over the 10 events. Joel Nkounkou (Dover, N.H.) finished fourth with 5,872 points.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Rob Franger (Shrewsbury, Mass.), Brandon Allen (East Elmhurst, N.Y.), Ross Hardy (North Andover, Mass.), and Thomas Harter (Hampton, N.H.) took bronze in the event with a collective time of 3:20.18.

WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD

The UNH women's outdoor track & field team took second place at the America East Outdoor Track & Field Championships held on the campus of the University of Vermont.
Elinor Purrier's (Montgomery, Vt.) three championships increases her Wildcat total to 10 between both cross country and track. The already school-record holder in the 800- and 1,500-meter races improves on her historical season which will have her competing at the Olympic Trials in the 3,000-meter steeplechase later this summer.
Emily Wernig (Gilford, N.H.), who competed near the end of the meet with points at a premium, surpassed her previous school record by 2' 3" for her first conference championship as a sophomore. At last year's outdoor championships, she tallied her then-best finish in a league meet with a fifth-place finish.
The Wildcats totaled six individual champions at the meet as seniors Laura Rose Donegan(Melbourne, Australia) and Amber Short (Keene, N.H.) won the 3K steeplechase and the 10K, respectively, yesterday.
Short and senior Samantha Blais (Lyndeborough, N.H.) rebounded from top times in the 10K yesterday to scoring times in the 5K this afternoon.
Danielle Gajewski (Danville, N.H.) pushed Purrier in the 800-meter run with a second-place time just 0.01 seconds behind first place.
The cross country and track & field program has put together one of its best school-years ever. The cross country team won its third straight title while the track & field team has now placed second in both indoor and outdoor seasons.
Purrier took home a host of awards, including the Most Outstanding Track Performer, the Coaches Award (most points in a meet), the Elite 18 Award (academic and athletic success) and coaches Casey Carroll and Robert Hoppler were named the America East Coaching Staff of the Year.

COMPLETED SEASONS
WOMEN'S LACROSSE (6-11, 3-3 America East)

The UNH women's lacrosse team's 2016 campaign came to an end on Friday, May 6 after falling at No. 7 Stony Brook University in the America East semifinals, 17-4.
Stony Brook won the opening draw and scored 12 seconds into the game to quickly take a 1-0 lead. The Seawolves struck again 59 seconds later.
Krissy Schafer (Longmeadow, Mass.) scored her team-leading 26^th goal of the season when she finished a feed from Laura McHoul (Westwood, Mass.) to lift the Wildcats within 2-1 at 27:38.
In the next five minutes, Clancy made four saves and the defense caused two turnovers, but SBU slowly pulled away to build a 6-1 lead with 13 minutes left in the first half.
The Seawolves netted five goals the last four minutes of the half to take an 11-2 lead into halftime.
Stony Brook extended the advantage to double digits, 12-2, 26 seconds into the second half and UNH never closed within single figures the rest of the way.
Carly Wooters (White Plains, N.Y.) scored her 25^th goal of the season on a free position at 9:29 to end the home team's streak of 15 consecutive goals.
Nicole Grote (Ellicott City, Md.) closed the scoring with a free-position goal at 3:22.
Grote and McHoul were named to the All-Championship Team.

MEN'S BASKETBALL (20-12 overall, 11-5 America East)

The UNH men's basketball team recorded its program-record 20^th win, won their its postseason game and moved onto the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament with a 77-62 win against Fairfield University on the road (March 16).
UNH led by as much as 21 points in the game.
Junior Jaleen Smith (Freeport, Texas) finished with 22 points on 4 of 12 shooting from the floor and a career-best 13 made free throws.
Classmate Daniel Dion (Cedar Park, Texas) matched a personal-best mark of five 3-pointers made and finished with 15 points.
Sophomore Tanner Leissner (Converse, Texas) scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds while junior Jacoby Armstrong (Sachse, Texas) finished with 10 points and nine rebounds.
Sophomore Iba Camara (Dakar, Senegal) earned his 14^th double-digit rebounding game with 11 boards.
UNH's season and postseason run came to a close at Coastal Carolina University (March 19) in a 71-62 loss in the CIT second round.
Leissner recorded his seventh double-double on the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Smith collected 13 points eight rebounds and four assists. Dion scored 16 points on 5 of 14 shooting and four 3's.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (12-18 overall, 6-10 America East)

The UNH women's basketball team was ousted from the America East tournament with a 58-47 loss to the University of Maine in a March 5 quarterfinal game at Binghamton University's Events Center.
Elizabeth Belanger (Acton, Mass.) was named to the America East All-Conference First Team and Ashley Storey (Cumberland, Maine) was an all-Rookie Team selection.
Belanger scored 20+ points for the third consecutive game and 12^th time this season with a team-high 23 in her last collegiate game. She finishes her career ranked No. 5 on UNH's scoring list with 1,453 points, as well as No. 7 in rebounding with 703. Belanger is one of three Wildcats in program history to record 1,400 points and 700 rebounds.
Belanger ended her senior season with 513 points, which is the eighth highest single-season in program history.
Sophomore center Carlie Pogue (Cincinnati, Ohio) joined Belanger in double digit scoring with 11 points and pulled down six rebounds.
UNH pulled to within 51-47 when Belanger banked in a jumper with 1:11 to play, but Maine pulled away by making its free throws.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

The UNH men's cross country team ended the 2015 season with a 30^th-place finish at the NCAA Regional Championships held Nov. 13 at Franklin Park (Boston, Mass.).
Sophomore Ryan Chiesa (Stockholm, N.J.) placed 118^th in the 10K race with a time of 32 minutes, 52 seconds followed by junior Mitchell Dutton (Salem, N.H.) who collected 143^rd place in 33:10.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

Senior Laura Rose Donegan (Melbourne, Australia) earned All-America honors at the NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country Championships on Nov. 20 with a 30^th place finish in 20 minutes, 20.9 seconds in the 6K race. She also received the Elite 90 award for the highest grade point average of all the athletes at the NCAA Championships.
Last year, Donegan earned her first All-America recognition at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships when she placed 10^th in the 3K steeplechase.
The Australian native holds a 4.0 GPA while studying political science. She was named the America East Cross Country Elite 18 winner at the conference championships (Oct. 31). She collected the same award at the 2015 America East Indoor Championships as well, for the highest GPA of the top finishers.
The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships. Donegan is the second UNH athlete to secure the honor, after Liz Guiney of women's skiing earned the award during the 2012-13 athletic season. There are 340+ cross country-sponsored programs by the NCAA at the Division I level.

FIELD HOCKEY (8-11 overall, 4-4 America East)

The UNH field hockey team was defeated 2-1 by University of the Pacific in an America East quarterfinal game at the University at Albany on Nov. 6. The Wildcats recorded a sizable advantage in both shots (27-7) and penalty corners (13-5).
Prior to the start of the tournament, junior midfielder Lindsey Nerbonne (Bow, N.H.) and sophomore midfielder Gianna Bensaia (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) were named to the All-Conference First Team. Freshman forward Katie Audino (Severn, Md.) was an All-Rookie Team selection. Senior forward Meg Carroll (Mansfield, Mass.) and senior back Chandler Giese (Trappe, Pa.) were voted to the All-Academic Team.
At the conclusion of the tournament, senior forward Meg Flatley (Townsend, Mass.) was named to the All-Championship Team.
Flatley extended her goal streak to three games by scoring her 10^th goal of the season and 52^nd career goal when she gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead at 23:07. That goal moved her into a tie for third on the program's career leaderboard with Hayley Rausch (2008-11). Flatley also climbed into No. 4 with 120 career points; that spot was previously held by Gaby Haroules (1977-80; 119 points).
Nerbonne finished the season as the team leader in goals (12), game-winning goals (three), points (26) and shots (85).
The end of the 2015 season marked the end of careers for Carroll, Flatley and Giese as well as classmates Emma Compagna (Canton, Mass.), Lynne Lehman (Landisburg, Pa.) and Taylor Rideout (Barrington, R.I.).

FOOTBALL (7-5 overall, 5-3 CAA)

The UNH football team's impressive fourth-quarter comeback fell short in a 27-20 loss to Colgate University in an NCAA FCS first round game at Cowell Stadium on Nov. 28. The Wildcats have advanced to the NCAA postseason 12 consecutive years, which is the longest active streak in the nation.
Junior defensive back Casey DeAndrade (East Bridgewater, Mass.), senior offensive lineman Austin Heter (McKees Rocks, Pa.) and junior tight end Jordan Powell (Forked River, N.J.) were named to the 2015 Division I All-New England Team by the New England Football Writers' Association.
DeAndrade was named to the All-CAA Football First Team as both a cornerback and punt returner for the second consecutive year.
Powell was also a First Team selection, while Heter was voted to the Second Team.
Junior running back Dalton Crossan (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) received two accolades. He was named to the Third Team as a running back and kickoff returner.
Senior captains Akil Anderson (Morristown, N.J.) and Jullian Turner (East Pittsburgh, Pa.) were Third Team honorees.
Senior quarterback and captain Sean Goldrich (West Haven, Conn.) finished with career numbers of 654 completions on 1,068 attempts for 7,536 yards. On UNH's all-time leaderboard, those numbers rank No. 3 in completions, No. 5 in attempts and No. 5 in yards.

GYMNASTICS (16-15 overall)

The UNH gymnastics team placed sixth at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional Championship that was held April 2 at the University of Michigan's Crisler Arena.
Danielle Mulligan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) recorded a 9.850 on the uneven bars to mark the highest score by any Wildcat on any event. She tied for 13^th overall on bars.
Meghan Pflieger (Barneveld, N.Y.) recorded the top placement by any 'Cat with 11^th place in the balance beam at 9.825. Pflieger was also the top 'Cat and 15^th overall in the floor exercise with a mark of 9.825.
Marissa Toci (Mount Laurel, N.J.) led UNH on vault with a score of 9.725.
Danielle Doolin (Medford Lakes, N.J.) was New Hampshire's top all-around performer in 12^th place overall at 38.425.

MEN'S ICE HOCKEY (11-20-6 overall, 4-12-6 Hockey East)

The UNH men's ice hockey team prevailed 3-1 in Game 1 of the best-of-three Hockey East first round against Merrimack College, but the Warriors rallied to win the series with a 3-2 overtime victory and 2-1 win in the decisive third game. All three games were played at Merrimack's Lawler Rink.
Sophomore goaltender Danny Tirone (Trumbull, Conn.) was named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week after making 132 saves on 138 shots faced for a .957 save percentage. He made 45 saves in Thursday's 3-1 win, 47 saves in Friday's overtime loss, and 40 in Sunday's heartbreaking 2-1 loss.
Junior Tyler Kelleher (Longmeadow, Mass.) tallied three points on the weekend with two goals and an assist.

WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY (11-24-1 overall, 8-16-0 Hockey East)

The fifth-seeded UNH women's ice hockey team was swept out of the Hockey East best-of-three quarterfinals with a pair of one-goal losses at No. 4 UConn. The Huskies held on 3-2 on Friday (Feb. 26) and rallied for a 4-3 triple overtime win Saturday.
Junior forward Jonna Curtis (Elk River, Minn.) was named a Hockey East Honorable Mention selection; she received the same accolade last season.
Curtis skated in all 36 games and led the Wildcats in goals (16), assists (17) and points (33), as well as shots (171). With those stats, she ranked fourth in Hockey East in shots and 10^th in goals. In 24 league games, Curtis tallied 23 points on 10 goals and 13 assists, all of which once again marked team highs.
Senior defenseman and captain Sara Carslon (Hutchinson, Minn.) was presented the Hockey East Sportsmanship Award. Carlson, in her first season as a defenseman, recorded four goals and 15 assists for 19 points to rank second on the team – first among defensemen – in assists and fourth overall in points. And in 36 games, she committed a mere six minor penalties for a total of 12 penalty minutes.
The end of the 2015-16 season marked the end of careers for seven UNH seniors –Haley Breedlove (Plano, Texas), captain Sara Carlson (Hutchinson, Minn.), Nicoline Jensen (Rodovre, Denmark), alternate captain Heather Kashman (Edmonton, Alberta), Margo Lund (St. Paul, Minn.), Brittney Redlick (Biggar, Saskatchewan) and Vaattovaara.

SKIING

The UNH ski team earned 10^th place at the NCAA Championships that were hosted by the University of Colorado from March 9-12. The Wildcats recorded a top-10 finish for the 25^th time in the 34-year career of ski coordinator Cory Schwartz.
Jay Ogle (Pittsfield, Mass.) headlined the four-day national championships by earning All-America Second Team status in Wednesday's giant slalom by finishing in seventh place with a two-run time of 1 minute, 52.29 seconds.
Lisa Wedsjö (Saltsjöbaden, Sweden) turned in the 11^th-fastest time in the second run of the women's giant slalom to vault to and 18^th place finish of 2:03.39.
On the third day of competition, the alpine racers competed in the slalom at Howelsen Hill. Bryan Cookson (Vernon, British Columbia) recorded the seventh-fastest time in the second run (44.27 seconds) to climb to a 12^th-place finish overall with a combined time of 1:25.94. Wedsjö was UNH's top performer on the women's side in 14^th place (1:32.06).
Peter Holmes (Tahoe City, Calif.) led the Nordic contingent in Saturday's classic races with a 14^th-place effort in the men's 20K. Katrin Larusson (Truckee, Calif.) was UNH's top finisher in the women's 15K in 22^nd place.
Holmes and Larusson were also the top 'Cats in Thursday's freestyle races. Larusson was the 19^th fastest skier in the women's 5K free. Holmes placed 32^nd in the men's 10K.
Fourteen member of the UNH ski team were named to the National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team, as announced by the U.S. Collegiate Ski Coaches Association. Each UNH All-Academic Ski Team member maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above and competed at the NCAA East Regional (EISA) Championships.

Senior Emily Larson (Boulder, Colo.) was honored for the fourth time in her career. Other Wildcats to earn All-Academic recognition each season of their UNH careers include Eirik Fosnaes (Hovik, Norway), Raleigh Goessling (Esko, Minn.), Larusson, Maddy Pfeifer (Andover, N.H.), Tyler Quinn Smith (Park City, Utah), Chris Steinke (Ottawa, Ontario) and freshmen Will McConville (London, Ontario) and Rocci Wohlk (Forest Lake, Minn.).

MEN'S SOCCER (10-5-3 overall, 3-3-1 America East)

The UNH men's soccer team fell in the America East quarterfinals by a score of 1-0 at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County on Nov. 7 to end the Wildcats' season.
Junior co-captain Chris Wingate (Hovik, Norway) earned the America East Midfielder of the Year title as well as an All-Conference First Team spot while Fazal Nabi (Portland, Maine), Lukas Goerigk (Berlin, Germany) and Andrew Chaput (Manchester, N.H.) each earned All-Conference Second Team honors.
Rookie Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) was selected to the All-Rookie Team.

WOMEN'S SOCCER (6-9-4 overall, 4-4-0 America East)

The UNH women's soccer team saw its 2015 season come to an end in an America East quarterfinal game at the University of Maine on Oct. 29. The Wildcats and Black Bears battled to a 1-1 tie through the end of overtime, but Maine advanced 4-3 on penalty kicks at Mahaney Diamond.
Senior Caroline Murray (New Canaan, Conn.) was named America East Midfielder of the Year and sophomore Brooke Murphy (Stow, Mass.) was named the America East Striker of the Year.
Murphy and Murray were joined by senior captain Kirsten O'Neil (Hampton, N.H.) on the All-Conference First Team.

SWIMMING & DIVING (5-1 overall, 3-0 America East)

The UNH swimming and diving team sent six swimmers to compete at the ECAC Championships, which were held Feb. 26-28 at the U.S. Naval Academy, and took eighth place.
Sophomore Liza Baykova (Moscow, Russia) broke three records over the weekend, one in the 50-yard free (23.00 seconds), one in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.21), which was also a NCAA-B time. Her third record came in the 100-yard free with a time of 49.48 seconds, also a NCAA-B cut time.
Also competing was Jessica Harper (Eastmeadow, Mass.), Brittany Driscoll (Wallingford, Conn.), Brittany Moffatt (Cedar Falls, Iowa), Linnea Lemerise (Brentwood, N.H.) and Kaitlin Cahill (Troy, N.Y.).

MEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD

The UNH men's indoor track & field was represented by junior Drew Piazza (Danvers, Mass.) at the 2016 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships at the CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala. on March 11-12.
Piazza finished eighth in the preliminary 800-meter run, sixth in his heat, just missing the cut for the finals. His time of 1 minute, 47.97 seconds was 0.06 seconds away from a finals qualifier. The top three racers from two heats, as well as the next two best times, qualified for the finals. The junior raced in his first NCAA championship meet.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD

The UNH women's indoor track & field was represented by sophomore Elinor Purrier (Montgomery, Vt.) at the 2016 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships at the CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala. on March 11-12.
Purrier placed third in the mile with a time of 4 minutes, 38.42 seconds in the final heat to earn her third All-America Team accolade. She is the only Wildcat track athlete to earn All-American Status in both indoor and outdoor season.
Purrier went into the finals with the top time as she finished first in the preliminaries with a time of 4:36.15.
She entered the NCAAs as the top seed by recording the fastest mile time in the nation this season, setting a school record time of 4:29.71.

VOLLEYBALL (21-9 overall, 11-1 America East)

The UNH volleyball team saw its 2015 season end Dec. 3 with a straight-set loss to 11^th-ranked University of Florida in an NCAA first round match. The Wildcats advanced to the NCAAs for the third consecutive year by winning the America East tournament title for the third straight year.
The set scores vs. the Gators were 25-15, 25-9, 25-15.
New Hampshire's 21 wins is the most in program history since the 2003 season (23-12, 12-2 AE).
The end of the 2015 season also marks the end of UNH volleyball careers for seniors Abby Brinkman (Brecksville, Ohio), Brenna Buckwalter (Evergreen, Colo.), Cassidy Croci (Sylvania, Ohio), Tori Forrest (Powder Springs, Ga.), Maggie Kenney (Merrimack, N.H.) and Madison Lightfoot (Clarkston, Mich.). The senior class propelled the Wildcats to a 76-47 record during its tenure in Durham.
UNH earned the automatic berth into the NCAAs by capturing the America East Championship title on its home court for the third consecutive year. The Wildcats trumped Binghmaton, 3-1, in the semifinals and defeated University at Albany, 3-1, in the Nov. 21 title match.
It marked the first-time in program history that UNH won the conference title three straight seasons.
The America East bestowed UNH 13 postseason awards with juniors Demi Muses (Orangevale, Calif.) and Keelin Severtson (Delray Beach, Fla.) taking home the league's co-Player of the Year and Setter of the Year respectively.
Forrest garnered First Team and All-Academic Team honors for the third straight season. Muses and Severtson joined Forrest on the All-Conference First Team. Lightfoot notched her second consecutive appearance on the All-Conference Second Team. Alongside Forrest, Croci and Brinkman merited All-Academic Team mentions. Following the conclusion of the tournament Forrest was named the America East Championships' Most Outstanding Player. Joining Forrest on the All-Championship Team were Lightfoot and Croci.
Lightfoot finished her UNH career as the all-time leader in digs, tallying 1,657 in her four years.
Forrest concluded her collegiate career second all-time in total attacks (4,129), fifth all-time in kills (1,264) and eighth in digs (1,054).
