Storey, Spoto Pace Women's Basketball to Third Straight Victory, 53-42 Over Hartford

Durham, N.H. – Freshman forward Ashley Storey (Cumberland, Maine) and senior forward Stephanie Spoto (Pittsford, N.Y.) combined for 26 points to lead the University of New Hampshire to its third straight win, 53-42 over Hartford, on Saturday afternoon in Lundholm Gymnasium.
Storey scored 14 points and collected five rebounds and Spoto had 12 points and four rebounds. Storey made six of her seven field goals attempts and Spoto was five-for-six from the floor.
UNH improved to 11-16 overall and 5-9 in America East. Hartford is also 11-16 overall and now is 7-7 in the league. The Wildcats earned a split of the season series. They lost at Hartford, 48-44, on Jan. 24.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Storey and Spoto led a dominating frontcourt performance by the Wildcats, making 11 of their 13 shots between them. UNH had 36 points in the paint to Hartford's 16 and a 34-22 edge in rebounding.
The Wildcats led 24-21 at the half and opened things up a bit with a 14-9 third period to make it 38-30 going into the fourth quarter.
Hartford cut the lead to 40-36 with 8:40 to play in the game. Storey scored inside off a pass from Anderson, Spoto nailed a couple of foul shots and Storey scored again and UNH had a 10-point win and was on its way to the win.
