The opening of Wildcat Stadium during the 2016 University of New Hampshire football stadium was a resounding success. The Wildcats toppled the College of the Holy Cross, 39-28, in front of a crowd of 13,242 of Wildcat Nation's finest.
The Wildcats finished the inaugural season with a record of 8-5, going 6-2 in Colonial Athletic Association play and 4-2 in the new building. New Hampshire earned a spot in the NCAA Division I FCS Championships for the 13th straight year and hosted Lehigh University in Wildcat Stadium pulling out a 64-21 victory.

Homecoming game (21,943) outdrew the total home attendance in 2004 (19,649), the first season of the 13-year playoff run, which is the longest current streak in NCAA D-I FCS football.
