Wildcats Race Past Rhode Island in Dual Meet, 173-122

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's swimming and diving team defeated the University of Rhode Island, 173-122, Saturday afternoon in a dual meet at Swasey Pool.
Junior Liza Baykova (Moscow, Russia) earned four top-podium finishes on the day, three of which were individual. She shattered her own pool record in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of one minute, 48.11 seconds, two seconds faster than her previous time. That mark ranks her 19th in the nation in the event. She also took gold in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.90 seconds and in the 100 freestyle, clocking in at 50.74 seconds. She and the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Sarah Broderick (Haverhill, Mass.), Kaitlin Cahill (Troy, N.Y.) and Corinne Carbone (Medway, Mass.) blazed through the water to take the top spot with a collective time of 1:38.85.
