Sam Horning joined University of New Hampshire Athletics as the Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Support in July of 2023. He will be working directly with the football program to provide academic support and monitoring student-athletes academic success.

Prior to joining UNH, Sam worked as the Athletic Academic Coordinator at Franklin Pierce University providing academic support for all 22 Varsity Programs. He set individualized meetings for student-athletes, specializing in assisting athletes with improving their organization and time management knowledge. Sam monitored student-athletes progress towards degree, working closely with the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance to oversee athletic eligibility. Additionally, Sam designed and oversaw the athletic study hall for at-risk student-athletes and served as a college business advisor for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Before transitioning to the Athletic Academic Coordinator role, Sam was an assistant men’s basketball coach with stops at both Franklin Pierce (June 2018-April 2021) and Bates College (July 2014-August 2017). In between his two coaching stints, he worked as the Video Coordinator for the Dartmouth College basketball program during the 2017-18 season.

Sam earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Sport Management from Nichols College in the Spring of 2014, before going on to complete his Master of Sport Administration degree from Fairleigh Dickinson in 2017.
