Reade Whitney

Reade Whitney (MS, LAT, ATC, CES, PES, IDN, FDM) joined the UNH Wildcats as an assistant athletic trainer in July 2026. He possesses many years of experience in elite sports medicine with a primary focus as an athletic trainer in professional soccer. He holds a BS in Athletic Training from the University of Tampa (2008) and an MS in Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Science from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa (2011).

Whitney has served in progressive leadership roles across Major League Soccer, from head academy and assistant positions with FC Dallas, CF Montréal and Chicago Fire as well as head positions with the Chicago Fire and DC United teams. He has supported MLS All-Star Games, MLS Cup Final, and other major events while emphasizing data-driven, multidisciplinary approaches to building athlete resilience and performance.
His expertise covers comprehensive player care: acute injury evaluation, evidence-based rehabilitation, performance enhancement, return-to-play protocols, injury prevention, and integration of modern treatment and recovery techniques including dry needling, blood flow restriction, fascial distortion, and corrective exercise programming.Â

Having recently worked with University of New Hampshire women’s volleyball and field hockey teams on a per diem basis, Whitney has demonstrated high quality care and connection with our teams. He will be starting his first year on staff as the assistant athletic trainer specific to the field hockey and women’s basketball teams.
