- Title:
- Offensive Coordinator | Quarterbacks
Gage Hayes joined the University of New Hampshire as Offensive Coordinator in February 2026 and he has a proven record of player development and high-production offenses across multiple levels of college football.
Hayes began his coaching career as a Graduate Assistant at Southeastern University (NAIA), spending the 2014 and 2015 seasons coaching the Fire’s defensive backs and contributing to the program’s early success.
He next moved to Bryant University, where his 2016 wide receiver unit broke school records for receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns.
He later helped build the startup program at Erskine College (2021), coaching Harlon Hill nominee and All-American Senika McKie, developing two Top-25 DII quarterbacks in completion percentage, and recruiting 70+ players over the first two years for the inaugural roster.
At Ave Maria University (2022–24), Hayes coordinated one of the most productive offensive eras in school history, highlighted by:
- 2022: 33.8 PPG, 422 YPG (2nd/1st all-time), six all-conference picks, Freshman of the Year, and a Champion of Character award winner
- 2023: two all-conference selections, an All-American, and the Conference RB of the Year
- 2024: two all-conference selections
Most recently, Hayes coached at Saint Anselm College, producing three all-conference selections in 2025.
He arrives at UNH with a reputation for dynamic offensive design, efficient quarterback play, and consistent player development.
As a student-athlete, Hayes played in 26 games over three seasons (2011-13) as a defensive back at Ave Maria. He totaled 160 tackles, 120 of which were solo, and grabbed nine interceptions. Hayes also returned 24 kickoffs for 628 yards. He remains, to this day, Ave Maria's career leader in interceptions, and ranks second in pass breakups and kick return yards.
The Lakeland, Fla. native graduated from Ave Maria in January 2014 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He also earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Sports Management from Southeastern in December 2015.
