Dean Easterling is the General Manager of the Whittemore Center Arena, UNH’s multi-use event venue and home to UNH Men & Women’s Hockey programs. Dean oversees booking and administration of internal and external events held at the arena. He supervises facility project management and overall operation of the arena. He also serves on several University committees and represents the Whitt on various task forces across campus.
Dean is dedicated to superior customer service and relations through his work with event representatives. He puts student and patron well-being at the forefront through innovative planning strategies and years of event management experience. Dean’s goal is to position the Whittemore Center as one of the premier event venues in New England while continuing to serve as a home for the UNH student fanbase.
Dean was hired by UNH in March 2019 following nearly 15 years working in private sports facility management, all with OVG360 – previously known as Spectra Venue Management and Global Spectrum. His career began at the University of Central Florida’s Addition Financial Arena as an Assistant Operations & Changeover Manager before accepting a promotion to Operations Manager at the Tsongas Center at UMass-Lowell and relocating from Florida to New England.
Furthering his professional development, Dean transitioned from operations into event management. He became Director of Events in 2016 coordinating major events at both the Tsongas Center and the Lowell Memorial Auditorium, which included events such as hockey games, theater performances, dance competitions, concerts, and a variety of university events. Some memorable events include An Evening with Oprah, President Trump’s Presidential Rally, Disney Live Events, and concerts featuring Lee Brice, Katy Perry, Selena Gomez and Arianna Grande. Handling large- and small-scale events has given Dean a well-rounded professional background that he brings to UNH and applies to his role as General Manager at the Whittemore Center Arena.
A native of Duluth, Minnesota, Dean graduated in May 2008 from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Hospitality Management with a concentration in Event Management. He continued his education through the DeVos Sports Business Program at UCF receiving a dual-Masters in 2010 with an MBA and Masters in Sports Business Management. Dean is an active alumnus and member of IAVM – International Association of Venue Managers – committed to welcoming and developing young industry professionals.
