Dave Kells, LICSW, has been working as UNH's part-time Athlete Counselor since the Fall of 2023. Early in his career, Dave was a teacher, house parent, and coach for several boarding schools. Later, he earned an MSW and has worked both in private practice and on college campuses.  While he has always worked with athletes throughout his career, for the past six years he has specialized in general counseling and mental skills for athletes.
He brings a warm, welcoming spirit to his work with clients and enjoys working with them to help them improve their overall quality of life. With college athletes, he strives to help them to balance their social, personal, academic, and athletic responsibilities and refine their athletic performance so that they are best able to maximize their potential in all areas.
Want to work on injury recovery, motivation, focus, transition from high school athletics to college athletics or from college athletics to professional athletics or the general workforce, have better control of negative/anxious thoughts, want to improve team communication or communication with a coach, friend, family member, want to think more balanced, or just want to talk confidentially- email, text, or call. Â
