Service Credit Union Student- Athletes of the Week: Noemi Martinez and Jayden Buckrell

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior Noemi Martinez (Glen Ridge, N.J.) of the UNH women's hockey team and sophomore Jayden Buckrell (Collingwood, Ontario) of the UNH skiing team were named the Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week on Feb. 3.

Noemi was excellent in this past weekend's series vs. The seventh ranked University of Connecticut. In the first game on Friday (Jan. 30), she denied 33 of 34 shots faced and had a .971 save percentage. The following night she logged a season-high 49 saves for a .961 save percentage in the Wildcats' 3-2 overtime win. In total, Noemi closed the weekend, denying 82 of 85 shots faced for a .965 save percentage.

For her performance this past weekend, she was named Hockey East Stop It Goaltending Goaltender of the Week on Monday (Feb. 2). This is Noemi's second time being recognized this season, previously winning the Hockey East Army ROTC Defender of the Week on (Dec. 1.)

Jayden posted two top 10 finishes at the Dartmouth Carnival, including a podium finish, this past weekend. On Saturday, Jayden finished the slalom with a time of 1:40 seconds to secure third place and a podium finish. On Friday, he had a strong 10th place finish in the giant slalom with a time of 1:57 seconds. Jayden's contributions led to the ski team finishing fourth overall at the Dartmouth Carnival.

The Wildcats will travel to compete at the Vermont Carnival on Feb. 6. The Nordic team competes in the classic sprint race at Craftsbury Outdoor in Craftsbury, Vt., while the alpine team competes in the giant slalom at Stowe Mountain Resort in Stowe, Vt. The Carnival concludes on Feb. 7.
