Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week: Addison MacNeil and Matt Vezza

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior Addison MacNeil (Brentwood, N.H.) of the UNH field hockey team and sophomore Matt Vezza (Elmhurst, Ill.) of the UNH football team were named the Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week on Nov. 17.

Addison posted a career-high performance with two assists in UNH's NCAA tournament first-round loss at third ranked Harvard last Friday, Nov. 14. Her first assist came when she set up freshman Marlijn Swaan (Hilversum, Netherlands) on a penalty corner giving the Wildcats a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute. Her second assist came when she found senior forward Brecken Calcari (St. Louis, MO.) in the 23rd minute, putting the Wildcats up 2-0.

The UNH field hockey team won a share of the America East regular season title and won the America East tournament championship in order to advance to the NCAA tournament.

Matt threw for career highs of five touchdowns and 328 yards as the offense scored a season-high 42 points in the University of New Hampshire football team's 42-14 victory against Bryant University at Beirne Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

He was named this week's recipient of the New England Football Writers Association Gold Helmet Award presented by the Jack Grinold/Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Football Foundation.

He led UNH to a touchdown on each of the first four drives of the game to fuel a 28-7 lead midway through the second quarter. On those four drives, Vezza completed 12 of 13 passes for 216 yards and four TDs.

The 25th-ranked Wildcats return to action at home in the regular-season finale Buffalo Wild Wings Border Battle against the University of Maine on Nov. 22 (1pm). The winning team is awarded the Brice-Cowell Musket. CLICK HERE to buy tickets.
