Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week: Audrey Mahoney and Matt Vezza

DURHAM, N.H. – Senior Audrey Mahoney (Downers Grove, Ill.) of the UNH swimming and diving team and sophomore Matt Vezza (Elmhurst, Ill.) of the UNH football team were named the Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week on Oct. 27.

Audrey had a historic weekend by breaking a 35-year-old Swasey Pool record previously held by former U.S. Olympian Jenny Thompson (Dover, NH). She won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.98 seconds to beat Thompson's 1990 time of 23.21 seconds. This comes only six days after she set the pool record at Vermont's Forbush Natatorium in the 50-free with a time of 23.52. She added another victory in the 100 free with a time of 51.80.

She also was strong in the 200-yard medley relay as the quartet of Amelia Labno (Rosemount, Minn.), Emily Loren Wright (Ventura, Calif.), Grace Mahon (Orange, Conn.) and Audrey Mahoney touched first with a time of 1 minute, 46.55 seconds. She also was a part of the 400 medley relay of Emily Wright, Grace Mahon and Izzie Campion (Auckland, NZ) that finished first with a time of 3:52:44 seconds. Her performances helped New Hampshire prevail to a 243-110 victory over Central Connecticut State this past weekend.

UNH heads to Loudonville, N.Y. Saturday, Nov. 1 (11am) for a tri-meet at Siena that also features Merrimack. UNH's next home meet will be Jan.12, 2026 vs the University of Rhode Island.

Audrey Mahoney 50-free Swasey Pool Record

Matt had a day to remember this past Saturday as the Wildcats defeated William and Mary, 34-24. He completed 17 of 23 passes for career highs of 280 passing yards and three touchdowns, and he also ran for a personal-best 99 yards.

With his impressive performance, he was named the CAA co-Offensive Player of the Week, and he also was the recipient of the New England Football Writers Association Week 9 Gold Helmet Award.
