BOSTON – Junior guard Eva DeChent (Westchester, N.Y.) of the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team was named to the America East Preseason All-Conference Team on Monday.
DeChent, the conference scoring champion last season, was named the 2025 America East Newcomer of the Year and was an All-Conference First Team selection in her first year as a Wildcat.
The 5-foot-11 guard led UNH in nine statistics – scoring (17.8 points per game), points (534), field goals made (177), 3-point field goals made (44), free throws made (136), blocks (15), steals (54), steals per game (1.8) and minutes (1,008). DeChent also finished third in rebounds (127) and rebounding (4.2 per game).
In addition to leading the conference in scoring, DeChent ranked second in minutes (33.6 per game), third in both free throw percentage (.760) and steals per game, as well as sixth in 3-point field goals per game (1.5).
DeChent recorded six of the conference's top 15 scoring performances – including the top two with 34 points against both Boston University and Dartmouth College – in the 2025 season. She scored 20+ points in 10 games and made 10+ free throws in a game four times. Proving she can score from anywhere on the floor, DeChent made multiple 3-pointers in a game 14 times.
The 2025-26 UNH women's basketball team opens the season with a Nov. 3 (6pm) home game against Worcester State. Season tickets and single-game tickets are on sale now at unhwildcats.com/tickets.
Wildcat Madness (Oct. 29; 7:30pm) is the first chance for fans to see this year's women's and men's basketball teams with free attendance for everyone. There is a special launch of the Lundholm Loft (6-7pm) that requires a reservation – go online to usnh.evenue.net/events/LLT.
