Wildcats Defeat Northeastern, 5-3, For Third Straight Win

Marty Lavins leads the way with a career-high two goals
The Wildcats win the three-game regular season series versus the Huskies, 2-0-1.
Junior goalie Jared Whale (Calgary, Alberta) made 23 saves to earn the win, while sophomore forward Jason Siedem (Madison, N.J.), sophomore forward Ryan Conmy (Alexandria, Va.) and senior forward Liam Devlin (Needham, Mass.) each scored for the Wildcats. Devlin added an assist for two points and senior forward Robert Cronin (Plymouth, Mass.) recorded two assists for two points.
The Wildcats, who have won three straight games, improve to 7-4-2 (2-3-2 Hockey East), while the Huskies fall to 3-7-3 (1-5-3 Hockey East).

- The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead at 2:17 of the first period when Siedem sent a shot from the right faceoff circle through the pads and to the back of net. Sophomore defenseman Brendan Fitzgerald (North Reading, Mass.) and junior forward Morgan Winters (Osprey, Fla.) each posted an assist on the goal.

- UNH moved out to a 2-0 advantage at 13:51 when the 'Cats went on a three-on-one as junior forward Cy LeClerc (Brentwood, N.H.) passed the puck from the slot to Conmy who knocked in a one-timer. Devlin also recorded an assist.

- The Huskies cut the deficit to 2-1 at 16:33, when Cam Lund found the back of the net off a rebound.
- The Wildcats extended their lead to 3-1 at 7:01 of the second period when Lavins scored on a one-timer to the upper glove side of the net off a backhanded pass from Cronin. Sophomore forward J.P. Turner (East Falmouth, Mass.) tallied an assist on the goal.

- Lavins netted his second goal of the game at 16:08 when he received a pass from behind the net from Cronin and fired a one-timer to give the 'Cats a 4-1 advantage.

- The Huskies cut the lead to 4-2 at 5:49 when a shot by Vinny Borgesi deflected off Cristophe Tellier to the back of the net.
- Northeastern made it a one-goal contest at 11:37 with a goal by Dylan Hryckowian off a rebound.
- The 'Cats responded just 28 seconds later when Devlin blasted a shot to the upper stick side corner of the net off a faceoff win by LeClerc for the 5-3 lead.

- Northeastern outshot UNH, 26-18.
- The Wildcats went 0-1 on the power play and the Huskies went 0-2.
- Whale made 23 saves to improve to 7-4-2 on the season, while Cameron Whitehead tallied 11 saves and allowed four goals, and Quentin Sigurdson posted three saves and allowed one goal in his collegiate debut.
