Jared Whale posts 27 saves for the Wildcats

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to No. 12 Providence, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex in Hockey East action.

Zachary Borgiel made 43 saves to earn the shutout for the Friars as UNH outshot Providence by a 43-30 margin.

The Wildcats fall to 2-3-1 overall (0-2-1 Hockey East), while the Friars improve to 5-1-1 (3-0-1 Hockey East).

The 'Cats return to action when they take on LIU at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. on ESPN+. HOW IT HAPPENED:    

The first period went scoreless, as the Wildcats and the Friars each had 10 shots on goal.
The Friars took a 1-0 lead at 3:22 of the second period with a goal by Will Elger.
UNH held a 27-22 shots on goal advantage through two periods.
Senior forward Liam Devlin (Needham, Mass.) went on a breakaway with 15 minutes left in the third, but his shot was saved by Borgiel keeping the Wildcats off the scoreboard.
The Friars extended their lead 2-0 when Logan Will found the back of the net at 5:24 of the third period.
At 18:17 of the third period, Tanner Adams scored an empty net goal for the 3-0 final.
