BURLINGTON, Vt. – Junior forward Robert Cronin (Plymouth, Mass) scored his first goal of the season as the No. 16 University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to Vermont, 2-1, on Friday night at Gutterson Fieldhouse in Hockey East action.
Vermont's Chris Theodore scored the game winner in the second period.
The Wildcats fall to 12-8-1 (5-5-1 Hockey East), while the Catamounts improve to 11-11-1 (5-7-1 Hockey East).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Catamounts struck first when Jens Richards ripped a shot from the slot to the top left corner of the net. Thomas Sinclair posted an assist on the goal along with Luca Münzenberger.
- At 9:22 of the first period, junior forward Conor Lovett (Franklin, Mass.) picked up a loose puck and backhanded it across the crease. Cronin tied the game 1-1 after beating the bottom glove side of Carriere.
- Vermont's Chris Theodore picked up a puck that was forced from a Wildcat and dished it to Massimo Lombardi who was streaking down the right side. Lombardi buried the puck to the top blocker side giving the Catamounts a 2-1 lead at 12:51 of the second period.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- UNH outshot UVM, 32-16.
- The Wildcats went 0-2 on the power play, while the Catamounts went 0-3.
- Junior goaltender Jakob Hellsten (Ljusdal, Sweden) recorded 14 saves for the Wildcats and is now 8-5-1 on the year, while Gabe Carriere tallied 31 saves for the Catamounts and is 5-4-0.
