Mick Mounsey '04 Named to NH Legends of Hockey Hall of Fame Induction Class

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Mick Mounsey '04, a four-year member of the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team, will be inducted into the New Hampshire Legends of Hockey Hall of Fame on Oct. 22. The announcement of the 21st induction class was made Tuesday.
Mounsey skated as a UNH Wildcat defenseman from 2000-04 and helped lead New Hampshire to consecutive Hockey East tournament titles in 2002 and 2003 as well as three NCAA tournament appearances, including the Frozen Four in 2002 and 2003 with a national runner-up finish in '03.
In 157 career games played, Mounsey recorded six goals and 38 assists for a total of 44 points. He was named Hockey East Honorable Mention in 2002, when he tallied two goals and 17 assists for 19 points with an astounding +38 rating in 40 games.
Mounsey was recipient of UNH's Rod Langway Best Defenseman Award (as chosen by the players) as a senior in 2004.
UNH had a combined record of 58-15-9 for a .762 winning percentage, which included 31-5-2 (.842) at the Whittemore Center, in the 2002 and 2003 seasons.

Prior to college, Mounsey won a New Hampshire high school state title at Concord High School. Following his time as a Wildcat, he won a Kelly Cup with the Idaho Steelheads in the ECHL.
Mounsey will be the 15th UNH men's hockey alum inducted into the New Hampshire Legends of Hockey Hall of Fame as a Player. The previously enshrined Wildcats are: Brian Foster '09 (inducted in 2018), CJ Ficek '01 (2015) Dana Barbin '81 (2011), Ryan Brandt '70 (2011), Karl Adams '42 (2011), Eric Royal '95 (2010), Walter Fournier '51 (2010), John Normand '80 (2007), Bruce Gillies '85 (2007), Clarence "Buzz" Littell '64 (2006), Ken McKinnon '62 (2005), Frank Roy '79 (2003), Roger LeClerc '58 (2003) and Rod Blackburn '61 (2002).
Mounsey will be inducted as a Player and is joined by Nelson Hutchings as an Official as well as Dave Caron, Walter J. Nadeau and Paul Comeau as Builders; Comeau is being honored posthumously.
The quintet will be formally enshrined during the Oct. 22 ceremony at the Grappone Conference Center in Concord. Luncheon tickets will be available to the general public Sept. 1 by contacting executive director Jim Hayes at hayes742@comcast.net or (603) 731-4168.
