Service Credit Union Student-Athletes Of The Week: Elizabeth Martell and Aidan O'Hern

DURHAM, N.H. --Junior Elizabeth Martell (Essex Junction, Vt.) of the University of New Hampshire women's track and field team and senior Aidan O'Hern (Concord, N.H.) of the UNH men's track and field team were named the Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week on April 17.

Elizabeth Martell finished in third place in the 800-meter run at the Friar Invitational at the Ray Treacy Track at Hendricken Field this past Friday. In her outdoor season debut in 800m, Elizabeth clocked in a 2 minute, 6.39 second performance, topping all America East participants and setting a team best in the 800m this year. Elizabeth competed against 34 other participants from 10 different universities.
The junior now ranks first in the conference in the 800m, second in the 1500m, and seventh in the 400m. In regional standings, she is fifth in the 800m.Â

Aidan O'Hern set a school record and personal best in the mile this past Friday at the Friar Invitational in Providence, R.I. Aidan finished 10th out of 62 runners in the mile with a time of 4 minutes, 5.64 seconds, breaking the previous school record of 4:06.25. That record was set by Drew Piazza in April 2016 at the Ocean State Invitational.Â

This record-breaking performance was Aidan's first individual race of the 2023 outdoor season. He made his outdoor debut at the 2023 Colonial Relay, Aidan was part of the winning 4x1500 team.Â
