Service Credit Union Student-Athletes Of The Week: Elizabeth Martell and Max LaPointe

DURHAM, N.H. -- Junior Elizabeth Martell (Essex Junction, Vt.) of the University of New Hampshire women's track and field team and freshman Max LaPointe (Amesbury, Mass.) of the UNH men's track and field team were named the Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week on April 10.Â
Elizabeth Martell had two first-place finishes this past weekend with a pair of personal bests at the Vermont Quad-Meet on April 8. Elizabeth first competed in the 200 meter against 12 other participants from four other colleges. Elizabeth came in first place with a time of 26.32 seconds, .5 seconds ahead of teammate Natalie Fraser who finished in second place. In the 400m, Elizabeth also came in first place with a time of 56.58 seconds, 3.33 seconds ahead of the runner-up.

The Wildcats return to action when they travel to the UConn Northeast Challenge (April 14-15) at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex in Storrs, Conn., and at the Friar Invitational (April 14) at the Ray Treacy Track at Hendricken Field.

Max LaPointe had his first career first-place finish with a personal best in the discus throw this past Saturday at the Vermont Quad-Meet on April 8. Max threw a total of 152 feet, 9 inches (46.56 meters) in the discus event, competing against 12 other participants from Vermont and St. Lawrence, as well as other Wildcats. Max won by a distance of 9 feet, 11 inches. In addition to his first-place finish in the discus throw, Max also came in third place with a distance of 41-7.75 (12.69m) in the shot put.

The Wildcats return to action when they travel to the UConn Northeast Challenge (April 14-15) at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex in Storrs, Conn., and at the Friar Invitational (April 14) at the Ray Treacy Track at Hendricken Field.Â
