DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team fell, 53-52 after a hard-fought game against the Brown University Bears, on Saturday Afternoon at Lundholm Gymnasium.

The Wildcats' record falls to 5-6 (0-0-AE) and Brown's improves to 8-3 (0-0- Ivy League).

FIRST QUARTER:

Junior guard Clara Gomez (Barcelona, Spain) scored the opening points of the game for the Wildcats.
Brown was ahead for the majority of the first, but junior guard Kenzie Matulonis (Raynham, Mass.) scored a three-pointer with just over two minutes left in the quarter to tie up the game, 9-9.
The Bears battled back for the remainder of the quarter ending with a score of 9-13 in favor of Brown.

SECOND QUARTER:

The Bears maintained the lead throughout the second.
Sophomore Avery O'Connor (Dedham, Mass.) scored a big three with a minute and a half remaining in the second bringing the Wildcats within 10 of the Bears. She had five points in the quarter.
The score going into halftime was 30-20, Brown.

THIRD QUARTER:

Senior guard Belen Morales Lopez (Alicante, Spain) scored the first points of the quarter for UNH, with a basket off of an assist from freshman guard Maggie Cavanaugh (Point Plesant Beach, N.J.).
Sophomore guard, Avery O'Connor (Dedham, Mass) had two massive three-pointers in the quarter to help the 'Cats close in on the Bear's lead.
The Wildcats stayed persistent throughout the quarter narrowing the Bear's lead to just four at the end of the third.

FOURTH QUARTER:

Morales Lopez once again scored the opening points of the quarter, giving her eight points in the game.
Gomez scored a basket on the next possession tying up the game for the first time since the first quarter.
Senior guard Adara Groman (Scituate, Mass.) scored off a fast break giving the 'Cats their first lead of the half.
The Bears battled back despite the 'Cats best efforts eventually winning the game by one.
