ORONO, Maine – Josh Nadeau scored three goals for the Black Bears as the No. 14 University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to No. 11 Maine, 5-2, on Friday night at Alfond Arena. Senior alternate captain Harrison Blaisdell (Regina, Saskatchewan) and sophomore forward Stiven Sardarian (Saint Petersburg, Russia) each found the back of the net for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats fall to 7-4-1 (4-2-1 Hockey East), while the Black Bears improve to 7-3-1 (4-2-1 Hockey East).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- At 13:35 of the first period the Wildcats took a 1-0 lead when Blaisdell fired a shot from the right faceoff circle to the near side of the net for his third goal of the season. Junior forward Robert Cronin (Plymouth, Mass.) and junior captain Alex Gagne (Bedford, N.H.) each posted an assist.
- With just 3.7 seconds remaining in the first period, Nadeau sent a wrist shot stick side from the right faceoff circle to tie the game at 1-1 with the power play goal.
- Just 23 seconds after the opening faceoff of the second period, Thomas Freel gave the Black Bears a 2-1 advantage when he knocked in a loose puck from in front of the net.
- At 18:32 of the second period, Maine increased its lead to 3-1 when Nadeau scored on a one-timer to the glove side of the net for his second goal of the night.
- Donavan Villeneuve-Houle scored a power play goal on a rebound off a shot by Brandon Chabrier at 5:55 of the third to make it a 4-1 game.
- Nadeau recorded a hat-trick when he scored on a backhander on the power play at 7:54 to increase the lead to 5-1.
- At 17:38, Sardarian fired a one-timer to the back of the net for the power play goal to make score 5-2. Freshman forward Ryan Conmy (Alexandria, Va.) and sophomore forward Morgan Winters (Osprey, Fla.) each posted an assist.
