Jerry Azumah, arguably the best football player to come out of the University of New Hampshire, is enjoying the life he has made for himself almost 15 years after retiring from the NFL and a seven-year career with the Chicago Bears.
Azumah, his fiancee and their two young sons are living in downtown Chicago, and they don't plan on moving.
"This is home," said Azumah, 43, who met his fiancee Bianca Camerena through mutual friends in the early 2000s. "Bianca is from here, we established a family here, I had my professional career here, and I retired here, Chicago has become home and I don't see myself leaving anytime soon."
Life guided by family
After almost a decade of being together, Azumah and Camerena decided to start a family. The couple's oldest son, Santiago, is 5 years old, while Valentino is 3.
"We both share similar backgrounds coming from immigrant families," said Azumah, who starred at the University of New Hampshire from 1995 to 1998. "(Bianca's) core values and love of kids and family aligned with mine so we decided to start our own. Everything revolves around the kids and their activities; it's certainly keeping us busy.
