DURHAM, N.H. – Dennis Pope '67, '75G, '83G was honored as UNH Athletics "Donor of the Game" during Saturday's football game against James Madison University at Wildcat Stadium.
Dennis has been a loyal Wildcat supporter for over 30 years. He graduated from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics (Now Peter T. Paul College) in 1967, while also completing two post-graduate degrees in 1975 and 1983. Dennis, a former football player, has since found new ways to stay connected and give back to his alma mater.
In 2020, Dennis established an endowed scholarship for the football program, benefiting a UNH football student-athlete. His generosity spans more than football, as he's additionally supported the Athletic Director Priorities fund, which benefits all student-athletes' experience.
His student experience at UNH and history with the football program are some of the many reasons Dennis chooses to give back.
"Being involved all of those years and transitioning into a life of a teaching and coaching, it's really kept me connected to the program and this University," Pope said. "[Giving back] felt right because of where I was in life. I had opportunities to invest, be successful and giving back just made sense. To create this scholarship and donate, then getting to see the athletes who benefit from it play each week, that just makes it more special... At certain points in life, you realize what's important, and giving back is important."
UNH Athletics is grateful for the loyalty, commitment and unwavering support from Dennis Pope, as well as all supporters of the Wildcats. Your support, no matter the amount, has a tremendous impact on our student-athletes and their ability to achieve their athletic and academic goals.
