UNH to take on Providence at the Whitt on Saturday, Oct. 30
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Six different players scored goals for the Friars as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to No. 8 Providence, 6-1, on Friday night at Schneider Arena.
The Wildcats fall to 2-4-0 (0-2-0 HEA) and the Friars improve to 6-2-0 (3-0-0 HEA).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Providence took a 1-0 lead when Michael Citara sent a wrist shot from the right faceoff circle to the upper stick side corner at 4:31 of the first period.
- At 6:23, Brett Berard scored on a wraparound goal to increase the lead to 2-0.
- Early in the second period, Providence made it a 3-0 contest when Kohen Olischefski fired a shot from the slot to the lower stick side of the net past senior goalie Mike Robinson (Bedford, N.H.)
- Riley Duran scored the fourth goal of the game for Providence at 10:31 of the second period as he stole the puck and scored from the right faceoff circle.
- After the goal, junior David Fessenden (Parker, Colo.) entered the game in net for the Wildcats.
- At 11:39 of the second period, Max Crozier found the back of the net as Providence led 5-0.
- Jamie Engelbert made the score 6-0 at 17:51 of the second period.
- Sophomore defenseman Luke Reid (Warman, Saskatchewan) blasted a slapshot to the back of the goal to put the Wildcats on the board at 6-1 at 8:41 of the third period. Senior defenseman Ryan Verrier (Reading, Mass.) and senior forward Jackson Pierson (Zionsville, Ind.) each posted an assist on the goal. The goal was his second of the season.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Providence outshot UNH by a 32-25 margin.
- The Wildcats went 0-3 on the power play and the Friars went 0-2.
- Robinson made 15 saves and allowed four goals, while Fessenden posted 11 saves and allowed two goals. Jaxson Stauber tallied 20 saves and allowed one goal to earn the win and now stands at 6-2-0. Austin Cain also made four saves for PC.
