DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire has announced the appointment of Brenda Holt Mullaney to the position of director of athletics development. Holt Mullaney brings nearly 30 years of experience at UNH into her new role.
Holt Mullaney will lead the athletics fundraising team in developing, implementing and executing strategies for raising philanthropic support for UNH and the department of athletics. In this role, she will build on the success and achievement of UNH's Celebrate 150 campaign, which raised nearly $23 million for Wildcat athletics.
"UNH athletics advancement has and will continue to flourish under the new leadership of Brenda," said UNH director of athletics Marty Scarano. "She was integral to everything we accomplished during the previous campaign, and her leadership ability is known to everyone in our department. We still have much to accomplish and we all look forward to partnering with our very capable advancement team under Brenda's leadership to continue this exciting climb."
"The University of New Hampshire is a special place," said Holt Mullaney. "I look forward to partnering with administrators and coaches to expand our outreach and development efforts with alumni, parents and friends to garner even greater philanthropic support for the Wildcats. Our ability to increase private support for the university plays an important role increasing support for our teams, enhancing our facilities, putting our student-athletes in the best position for success and achieving athletics' vision of national prominence."
Holt Mullaney will partner with the director of athletics, coaches and volunteers to increase support in the areas of annual giving, major giving (endowed funds and capital projects), and planned giving. In addition, her responsibilities will include managing and overseeing the athletics advisory board volunteers, the development and implementation of a comprehensive communication plan to reach donors and the execution of an effective stewardship program, which includes key engagement and donor recognition opportunities. Holt Mullaney's goal is to establish and sustain long-term donor relationships with alumni, parents, faculty/staff and friends to assist them in achieving their philanthropic goals.
Previously, Holt Mullaney served as the senior associate director of athletics development and assisted the director in the planning and execution of strategies to exceed fundraising goals for specific projects and initiatives. She joined University Advancement in 2007 as the associate director of athletics development. In this role, she worked to increase support for the annual fund and major giving to UNH Athletics.
A native of New Hampshire, Brenda earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master of Business Administration degree from UNH. Holt Mullaney's early professional experience includes 20 years of service as a director of sales and marketing within the hospitality industry. She and her husband, Mike, are parents to Ashley '13 and Kyle '15 and family of legendary UNH hockey coach Charlie Holt.
