DURHAM, NH. – Justin Benna '18 Ph.D, was recognized as the UNH Athletics 'donor of the game' during Saturday night's men's hockey game versus Dartmouth College at the Whittemore Center Arena. UNH defeated Dartmouth 4-0.
Benna, a longtime fan of the Wildcats, earned his doctorate degree in education from the University of New Hampshire in 2018. During his time as a doctorate candidate, he was chosen as a Clark National Scholar by the University Council for Educational Administration and the American Educational Research Association. Benna is in his 27th year as an educator and now serves as the principal at Epping Elementary School.
A native of Iowa, Benna has been living in New Hampshire for over 15 years and has been a UNH men's hockey season ticket holder since 2008. He remembers a 2011 battle against Maine at the Whittemore Center Arena as his favorite Wildcat memory.

"It was a hard fought, back and forth game for three periods, and the last minute of play was thrilling," Benna shared. "With about 16 seconds left in the game, Paul Thompson tossed up the puck and scored from behind the net. The place went bananas!"
Benna attended his first UNH hockey game back in 2004 when he bought tickets to see UNH versus Dartmouth in Manchester. He has been a loyal supporter of the Friends of UNH Hockey for 10 consecutive years.
"I continue to support the Friends of UNH Hockey because of the community experience that comes with being involved," Benna said. "I've become close with a number of fans and other supporters. It's rewarding to be part of a bigger community who are all motivated by the UNH men's hockey program."
UNH Athletics thanks Benna for his loyalty and support of UNH Athletics! To learn more about how you can support the 'Cats, please click here.
