Smith, Petke Record Double-Doubles in 3-1 Loss at Albany

UNH and Albany Will Meet Again in a Nov. 16 America East Semifinal
ALBANY, N.Y. – Kennedi Smith (The Woodlands, Texas) and Hannah Petke (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) both recorded a double-double in the University of New Hampshire volleyball team's 3-1 loss Friday night to the University at Albany at University Gym.
UNH ends the regular season at 12-14 overall and 8-4 in America East. The Wildcats will be the No. 3 seed in the America East Championship and face Albany in a Nov. 16 (4 p.m.) semifinal at Stony Brook University. The Great Danes are now 15-9, 9-2.
Smith, the reigning America East Player of the Week, finished with 20 kills on a .264 hitting percentage and had 15 digs for her team-leading 13th double-double of the season. She also had a team-high five blocks. Petke had 12 kills, a .276 hitting percentage and 11 digs.
Emma Patlovich (Lake Forest, Ill.), the America East Setter of the Week, tallied 49 assists and Defensive Specialist of the Week Emily Tanski (Plymouth, Mich.) led all players with 32 digs. Logan Welti (Middleton, Wis.) chipped in with 16 digs.
Albany was led by Akuabata Okenwa (21 kills, .263 hitting percentage), Andersen Vaughan (40 assists), Nicole Otero (20 digs) and Courtney O'Connell (eight blocks).

SET 1
• There were no ties or lead changes in the first set as Albany won the opening five points of the match.
• UNH closed within 10-7 but the Great Danes went on a 5-1 run to extend the advantage to 15-8.
• Albany led by as many as 10 points, 20-10, before closing out the s

• There were 12 ties and seven lead changes in the second set.
• Neither team led by more than one point until Albany won three consecutive points to take a 10-7 lead.
• UNH won four of the next five points to forge an 11-11 tie.
• Trailing 13-12, the Wildcats went on a 4-0 run to take a 16-13 lead.
• Back-to-back kills by Smith gave New Hampshire a 20-16 advantage.
• The 'Cats were two points away from leveling the match at one set apiece with a 23-20 lead, but Albany reeled off five consecutive points to close out the set and take a 2-0 lead in the match.
SET 3
• There were eight ties and four lead changes in the third set. UNH recorded a .341 hitting percentage.
• It was once again back-and-forth early in the set as the Great Danes held the first two-point advantage of the set at 8-6.
• UNH fought back to take a 15-12 lead on back-to-back kills by Smith and Patlovich.
• Patlovich's service ace gave the 'Cats an 18-15 lead and prompted an Albany timeout.
• Trailing 23-20, the Great Danes called their last timeout of the set. The teams exchanged the next four points to give UNH the set, 25-22.
SET 4
There were no ties or lead changes in the first set.
• Albany raced out to a 4-0 lead and led by as many as five points, 12-7, before UNH closed within 19-18.
• The Great Danes won the next three points to reestablish a four-point cushion, 22-18.
• Trailing 24-20, the Wildcats fended off two match points, which prompted the home team to call a timeout.
• Okenwa then ended the set and match with a kill.
