DURHAM, NH. – Andy and Donna Lietz received the UNH Athletics "Donor of the Game" award during last Saturday's football home game against James Madison University at Wildcat Stadium.
Andy and Donna Lietz have been ardent supporters of the UNH Athletics Program and the University of New Hampshire for decades as loyal Wildcat sports fans, season ticket holders for multiple sports, and advocates for the Wildcats. Andy served as the chairman of the University System of New Hampshire board of trustees and helped the university realize a range of athletics-related capital improvements, including the renovation of Lundholm Gymnasium and improvements in the Field House. During UNH's largest comprehensive campaign, CELEBRATE 150, Andy extended his commitment to UNH athletics serving as chair of the Athletics Campaign Steering Committee. During the campaign, as significant philanthropic dollars were raised to fund the construction of the Watkins Center for Student-Athlete Excellence and Wildcat Stadium, Andy helped explain to key constituents the importance of the stadium project and the positive impact it would have on the campus, the community, and the state.
In 2016, he received the UNH Athletics' Joan Leitzel Award, which honors a member of the community who has significantly enriched the lives of UNH student-athletes. He received an honorary degree from the university in 2013 for his work serving on three N.H Governor's Commissions that significantly improved public education and the economy in the state. In 2018, Andy received the Granite State Award at the UNH commencement ceremony for his work in support of higher education in the state.
Andy and Donna made a significant philanthropic gift to support the Wildcat Stadium project and the President's suite at the Victory Club level in the Stadium, which bears their family name. They support the Athletic Director's Priorities Fund, giving Marty Scarano the means to make the improvements that impact all of our student-athletes, and they are consistent annual donors to many of our athletic programs and priorities.
Athletic Director, Marty Scarano is grateful for Andy and Donna's friendship, commitment and loyalty over the years. Scarano explained that, "they truly embody Wildcat pride and not only are they devoted fans and generous donors, but always find a way to advocate on behalf of UNH, sharing the news of our athletic successes and the academic achievements of our outstanding student-athletes."
