COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – With UNH trailing 4-2, senior captain Marcus Vela (Burnaby, British Columbia) scored with just 2:31 left in the third period, the Wildcats then played the final 2:09 with an empty net but were unable to find the equalizer as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to Colorado College, 4-3, on Saturday evening at the Broadmoor World Arena. CC takes the two-game series as the teams skated to a 3-3 tie on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Just 1:43 after the opening faceoff the Tigers took an early 1-0 lead when Try Bradley scored.
- The Wildcats responded to tie the game at 1-1 at 6:50 when freshman forward Jackson Pierson (Zionsville, Ind.) sent a pass to senior forward Ara Nazarian (Boxford, Mass.) who sent a one-timer to the lower stick side of the net for the power play goal. Sophomore forward Charlie Kelleher (Longmeadow, Mass.) also posted an assist on the goal.
- But Ty Pochipinski then gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead at 7:52 with a goal in his collegiate debut.
- Nick Halloran then increased the CC lead to 3-1 at 10:37. Sophomore goalie Mike Robinson (Bedford, N.H.) then replaced freshman Ty Taylor (Richmond, British Columbia) in net.
- At 13:17, senior defenseman Richard Boyd (Delray Beach, Fla.) found the back of the net to cut the CC lead to 3-2. Freshman forward Angus Crookshank (North Vancouver, British Columbia) and senior defenseman Matt Dawson (Delta, British Columbia) each tallied an assist on the goal.
- CC concluded the period with its fourth goal when Bryan Yoon sent a loose puck to the back of the net at 17:49.
- CC outshot UNH, 15-10 in the first period, while the Wildcats went 1-2 on the power play and the Tigers went 0-1.
- Neither team was able to score in the second period as CC outshot UNH, 10-9, and the Tigers went 0-3 on the man-advantage.
- With 2:55 remaining in the third period, the Wildcats went with the empty for the extra skater and capitalized when Vela knocked the puck to the lower right side of the net off passes from Nazarian and sophomore defenseman Max Gildon (Plano, Texas) with just 2:31 left.
- The Wildcats then played with an empty net for the last 2:09 but were unable to score the equalizer for the 4-3 final score.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- UNH outshot CC by a 30-29 margin.
- Robinson made 19 saves and Taylor tallied six. Alex Leclerc recorded 27 to earn the win.
- The Wildcats went 1-3 on the power play and the Tigers went 0-5.
