DURHAM, N.H. – Jim Egan '72 received the University of New Hampshire athletics' Donor of the Game award during halftime of UNH's football game at Wildcat Stadium on Oct. 13.
Egan, a 1972 graduate of the College of Liberal Arts, earned a History degree from UNH. He has been a passionate Wildcat fan for nearly four decades and a loyal supporter of UNH athletics for over 35 years. Egan annually supports a number of Wildcat programs, but is particularly fond of the football team as well as the men's and women's basketball teams.
Egan's support of the Wildcats goes beyond his generous philanthropy. He is a proud road warrior who supports a variety of UNH programs at away contests. Egan considers himself fortunate to cheer UNH football in 46 different venues in 26 different states. Additionally, in men's and women's basketball he has attended 55 different venues in 11 different states. In total, he has supported a variety of Wildcat programs at over 120 away contests in 27 different states.
"I have a lot of fond memories supporting the Wildcats in person, and have been fortunate enough to travel to a number of away contests with friends and fellow alumni to cheer on UNH," Egan said. "I developed a friendship long ago with the late Gerry Friel. That led to decades of involvement with both the men's and women's basketball programs. A special shout out to UNH alum, Dick Dart, who became a great friend and reinforced my passion for the basketball programs at UNH. Over the years, I expanded my involvement and have now been attending as many UNH athletic contests as possible.
"Attending Wildcat events has provided me with an avenue to meet fellow alumni, parents and friends, all of whom have enriched my life while being able to stay connected to UNH," he added. "I've been lucky enough to watch and learn how hard our Wildcat student-athletes work both on and off the field, so I am proud to support UNH athletics in any way possible."
UNH athletics is grateful for the loyalty, commitment and unwavering support from Jim Egan. We thank Jim, as well as all other UNH athletics donors, for supporting our student-athletes and allowing them to achieve their athletic and academic goals.
