DURHAM, NH. – Andrew Davis '17 received the UNH Athletics Donor of the Game award, presented by Geico, during Saturday's football game against Elon University at Wildcat Stadium.
Davis graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2017 with a degree from the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture. He focused his studies on Environmental Resource and Economics.
Andrew started to support the Wildcat football team while he was a student, and continues to support them as an alumnus.
"I came back to Durham as a student after my service in the military and really connected to the culture of the football program," Andrew said. "I feel proud to support this program and the culture that the coaches and players have created.
"Upon my return, I was looking to surround myself with positive situations, supportive people, and a culture of hard work and dedication," Andrew continued. "I found all of that with the UNH football program, so it is an easy decision for me to stay involved and give back."
Upon Davis's return from his service in the military, he presented a state of New Hampshire flag that he carried with him during his service to Coach Sean McDonnell and the rest of the team. The team now holds the flag high as they run out onto the football field during home games.
"That really meant a lot to me," Andrew said of the new tradition.
SALUTE TO SERVICE
Davis is an 8-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He served as an infantryman and earned his way to Sergeant ranking during his time in the military. Davis served three tours overseas, including one in Afghanistan.
UNH Athletics thanks Andrew Davis for his loyalty and generosity to UNH football, and to his country.
